Factory CD Radio
Question for the ThirdGen masses:
Was a Factory CD unit ever available on Third Gen F-body? RPO code? If so, could it be swapped into my 1988 Iroc equipped with ESP cassette stereo w/equilizer without having to perform any modifications? My car also has a power antenna. Thanks!

Factory CD players were available from 1989 and up.You can install one in your 88 with no problem.Only thing you might have to get is a wire harness adaptor and antenna adaptor.Nothing to splice, just plug and play. Here is a pic of mine.CD player came from a mid 90`s buick

Re: Factory CD Radio
my82roc: Would you know if the radio in your car the same exact unit as was available for 89-92 f-body cars, or did the unit you got from the Buick that just happen to have the same attachment points as f-body?

Re: Factory CD Radio
Its not the same unit as a 3rd gen cd player but it is the same size.Pretty much any gm delco cd player from 89-2002 will fit without a problem. If you get one from a different gm vehicle you will need the 2 dog ear brackets from a factory 3rd gen radio to attach it to your console..Here is a pic of the 90-92 factory cd player

I think I like the look of yours better! At least it sort of matches my existing radio a little more closely with the two ***** and EQ.
Is the 90-92 radio shown also yours and you preferred the Buick radio?

Re: Factory CD Radio
If you interested I have a few spares of this same buick cd player but they all need the cd mechanisms refurbished.I can recommed a repair shop in virginia who will fix them for about 100 dollars with a 1 year warranty

Re: Factory CD Radio
Thank you for the kind offer, but I'll try to find one locally here in southeastern Michigan. Any idea the model and year of the Buick that your radio was from originally?
Thanks
