Need help with 15" sub system

alright guys, i am going to say something that will sadly degrade my manhood. I know NOTHING about systems. I recently decided to rebuild my 1991 Z28. All of the mechanical stuff is handled but unfortunately the system has me stumped. I bought 2 15" Volfenhag subwoofers. I would like suggestions on anything you can give me. Box dimensions, what type of amp to get so forth and so on. I've read on here some but only thing i see for boxes on here is for 2 12's so you see the problem im running into. Thanks.

well its casue the bigger the sub the more air space they need to sound good , 15's need alot of space and frankly 3rd gens dont have , i stuck with 2 tens in the back and my friend has 2 15's in his malibu (sp?) with better speakers but casue he has them in the trunk and smaller box they sound like crap were mine sound ALOT better then his

i still plan on getting 2 12's in a ported box behind the seat's (back seats taken out)

Bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to speakers. As has been said, 15's need a lot of room to move.

First things first............WELCOME. I agree you do not have enough space to make the 15's sound decent. YOu could try putting some matting in the box you build to fool the subs into thinking there in a bigger box, but I would not bother. Understand that one 15 has the same cone space as 1.5 12". SO you have the equivelent to 3 12" subs. That's a LOT of bass. If that's what you want fine but remember wiht 15's you might get reverb from the speakers depending on the music. You could try one 15 in a box.

You need to know the recommended cf for the 15's and start from there. As for subs it really depends on your budget and what you want to do with the system and what else you have (mids, highs, crossover, etc). People on this forum can help and provide guidance but you need to have a starting point and know what you want from your system. Remember bigger and louder is not always better. I used to run 2 competion 12"s with a high output amp and at one show I blew the back window apart! Thank god the tint kept the window from becoming a thousnad pieces.

Imo, if i was you.. i would put only one 15.. and tbh wolfenhag would not have been my first choice.. instead of spending the amount you did on 2 of those.. i would have put that money towards one very good 15

you have enough room to make a box for 2 15's in the hatch it just you wont have any room to put stuff back there i have 2 jl w6 15's in my camaro and they sound awsome so you can do it.

I had two solo-baric L5's in single made boxes (one box for each speaker) you can sit both boxes up top right under the window and the amp in the bottum of the hull sort of speak and they sounded awesome. I had one DB 1000 watt amp 2 channel pushing 500 to each speaker and i had some infinite components in the front with tweeters built it. It was loud crisp and very understandable. Those two brands i advice for sure JBL makes great amps too btw. Just make sure you get good sized wires and a capacitor. Infinite imo makes the best component speakers such as your 6x9s and tweets and any other small speaker (that supplys your sounds more then the bumps) and alpine or solo-barics make for great bumping 12 inch subs. Alpine is in the lower end but solo-baric has many great subs. I now have the L7's from solo-baric same amp running them same watts and still awesome bump.

camaro_ABN, if money isnt an issue check out these companies.. Resonant Engineering, FI, AA (Ascendant Audio, specifiaclly that Havoc series subs), DD (Digital Designs)... subs by those companies will be very nice.. both sound and build quality
