Hey all,

Thanks in Advance

I installed the power antena in my 85 TA...hardest thing about it was hooking it up to the wires and stuff in the deck so that it only comes up when you turn the radio on...i diddnt do it myself i got my father to do it...but its deffinitally possible..and worth it...beats havin your antena cut off by some punk with wire cutters in a parking lot...they do that a lot around here...that and roll condoms down your antena LOL!

I found that my 89RS, which didn't have the power antenna option, actually had the wiring inside for it. The connector was taped up in the harness, and plugged right into a power antenna unit from a vehicle that has it. It was a grey three cavity connector with pink and orange wires. There is continuity from the radio connector to this antenna connector.
That's one option anyway! Hope it helps.

Yes, if you get the GM power antenna assembly, it should be plug and play!
It's pretty nasty. You pretty much have to remove the passenger-side fender. You'll have to remove the fender-well lining and remove/loosen most of the fender bolts to make room to get the assembly in. You'll need a special wrench to get the antenna bezel off and on (I have a $25 Snap-On version as well as a $6 AutoZone version, the main difference is the cheap version feels like it's made of pewter The package says "lead-hazard" anyway ).
You'll also take apart most of the passenger-side underdash area.
The antenna motor is held on by the bezel at the top and a bracket at the bottom.
Let me know how much that sucker sets you back, I may need a new one if it turns out mine is not functional.
