15 custom box in progress

well since its been a year or so since i been lookin for a sub box that holds a single 15 im gonna build it myself. i make standard boxes and sell audio as a side business, but i Hate building complicated boxes for the camaro trunk well. Its definitely got some crazy angles and lots of measuring is required..
its gonna be the closest i can get it to the factory made dual 12 box i got in there now , im just not gonna add the divider inside it because its only one sub,and im also gonna have to port it because the specific model subwoofer i plan on using calls for it. i like ported for the deep rollin bass extension that makes you wanna barf anyway.
i'll try and post a pic as soon as i am done with the box.. if you want to see pics of it in progress post a reply or somethin and let me know. this is gonna be a long and arduous build.. oh well.. if the manufacturer had made affordable 15" enclosures i wouldnt be doing this.
12voltaudio.net is my site with my camaro pics. just click on company car

i built a 4.2 cube ported box for my 2 rl-p 12's. was a major pain in the ***.

where are you going to put the port, and what style port? what sub/amp/electrical/components/head unit etc?

I have that same amp. People say they're crap but I like mine. I can't imagine 2 of them when bridged right with 2 15's..

looks like porting it wont work.. the box will only have barely 2.5 cu ft., i am Not even a 1/3 done today, and the multiple angles i have to cut are insane..
im never doing this again even if someone pays me.. this is total

ha, yeah its fun aint it? i've done it 3 times now, 2 sealed boxes, and one ported, all for dual 12's.

what tools are you working with? if you dont have a table saw, you'd better find someone who does.

I built my box with out a table saw, MAJOR PAIN. I origanally inteded my box for 2 12s to be ported. After building it REALISTICLY, it came to barely 3 cubic feet. My "plans" of 4.5 cubic feet went away after having to build it to actually fit in the trunk space. It sucks (especially since I already cut the port holes in the top piece and clothe ).

no i dont have a table saw, i got circular and jig saw and hand saw, some hammers, files, and a drill. none of the power tools are cordless.

>>>>>>>>>>>>yes its a Major PAIN , its Extremely Frustrating because i usually crank out some nice sub enclosures.

>>and its going to use same system i have in the car as it is
so what have i gotten myself into??? i bit off more then i can chew and i have noone to turn to with better tools or knowledge here in my area.

measure cut measure cut measure cut measure cut is mostly what i been doing... kinda makes me wanna kick myself.. i had no idea it would be this hard

The glass box I've been working on has been fairly easy to build, just time consuming. Go go fiberglass

Aw, come on man. You can do it. Hell, if I managed to make a box with two round holes in it out of MDF using similar tools you can too. It doesn't have to be pretty as long as you can seal the gaps with glue/silicon/liquid nails. I only had one advantage over you: my drill was cordless

I do have a question out of curiosity. Why go from two 12’s to one 15? Unless you’re upgrading to a much better woofer (more accurate and/or more excursion) you’re going to be losing in output (you’re losing about 50 sq in of cone area).

its not all that hard, just takes dedication. with my first box, i had no bumps in my car, so i was driven!

where in maryland are you? i live about 15 minutes from hagerstown, if you aren't too far, i'll help you out. more than welcome to use my shop.
