What do you think about this

Ok I came across what I believe is a deal. I really value your opinions so I want your opinion and comments on it. So here it is:

-2 Phoenix Gold 10" subwoofers
-1 Memphis amplifier ( don't know model but the fuses were 2 40's if that helps and it was as biig as a kleenex box but slimmer)
- Box

All that for 420 $ Canadian

Sorry I know the description on the amp is really vague but that's what I know. So feel free to ask any question or to add your two cents.

I also would like to know, if any of you has the same head unit as me if I can put an amp with it.

Do I need a capacitor ???

Thanks again and I'm eagerly awaiting your response

From the fuse rating, it looks like ~700W amp. The main thing to make certain of is that the impedances between the amp & the subs will work. If you can find out:

1.) What's the impedance of one sub
2.) Are the subs DVC or SVC; if DVC, what is the impedance of one coil?
3.) What is the lowest load which can be connected to the amp?

This is all that's really needed to make certain it will work at all. Beyond that is whether it will work well or not.

If this is the amp:

http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_...ne_MRD-M605#sp

Then it'll work. It will pump 300W to each sub at a total impedance of 2 Ohms as seen at the amp.

I don't think the box/subs combo is worth that unless they're the Ti10 model subs. I've never worked with these so I don't know how they sound -- I'm just going off of specs I see online. One thing, though, the Ti10's won't really sound too good with that amp. They appear to need more power than that amp can supply.

how much is that in american dollars? im with what he said, the titaniums are some really nice pg woofers but they're real expensive, like 400 US$ a piece. i wouldnt really want to run any of their lower end speakers.

bridge them and that amp will work fine you should not need a cap seing as how i dont think that will be taking that much power, but if you want it wont hurt if you got the cash to spend

I have no idea where you got that number.. But as of Oct 2, 2005, the current exchange rate works around at
$1 USD = $1.1632 CAD

Soo..
$200 USD = $232.80 CAD
or
$200 CAD = $171.82 USD

The canadian dollar is not worth more than a USD

Thats a Memphis MC1000D probably...****** that baby up, that's worth the 200 canadian anyday. Those are rated at 300w@4 ohm, 700w@2 ohm and 1100w@1 ohm...rms Can't break em, they are amazing amps. They retail for bout $550 in the US so thats $600+ in canadian right? If the subs are DVC 4 ohm, you can take that amp down to 1 ohm and beat the **** outta those subs . If they are SVC 4 ohm, your still lookin at 700 watts of constant power. There amps are CEA-2006 compliant so the numbers are all true. Take it, and run the subs till they blow, and buy some new subs that are worthy of the 1100 watts...Im half temped to send you the money and buy it for me and send it here...damn...$275...

***edit***
I really need to start reading the posts better...i would have gotten alot of info out of it...like the amp was sold already...and the subs are SVC 4 ohm....and a completely different price than what I memntioned above...oh well...sorry you missed out on a deal...I would have bought it...
