I love the brands that Jc Whitney sells.

99% of it is all crap; and I love the subs that don't even have brand names on them!

I think there is no worst brand.

No best brand.

Each brand's reputation depends on the person who uses it.

Since there is no one all mighty authority that knows the best and worst.. there will always be people who love Pyramid and despise infinity.

Perhaps a more accurate question would have been.. what is the most hated and most loved brand of the people here.

In my case, I like Pioneer and Rockford.
Reason, excellent bang for your buck.

I also like infinity and JBL and JL.

Tis what I get for being a car audio nut :P

I think the largest most hated brand lately has been Sony's Xplode Car Audio line.

You too!? I had my Road Gear stolen last winter. The damn thing wouldn't even play CDs. I was more upset about the window they broke than anything else. What is this world coming to?

Let me reword that...the lower end Lightning audio which is sold at Wal-Mart. I have heard some good lightning audio stuff, But my friend has a 10 and some highs from the lower end stuff sold at Wal-Mart and it sounds pretty rough

i still say lightning audio is okay.

the 30$ coaxials from wal mart on head unit power sound a HELL of alot better than alot of other speakers that cost significantly more.

that doesnt mean i'm using them in my car, but they are OK. for the price, they are great.

kenwood makes good head units, and okay coax/components, the subs are overrated to match the overrated amps.

Sony makes some of the best cameras in mass market and has for quite some time. Great 8mm/ Hi8/ digi8/ MiniDV/ and digital still cameras, they ROCK. Excellent quality and reliability. Their audio equipment is garbage, but not every thing they make is.

There are a LOT of bad brands, to many to list and new ones every other day.

I have a Kenwood head unit, no probs with it. Reads every MP3 CD-R I throw at it, and it doesn't skip even with the size of the potholes around here.

Heh, thats the first amp I ever had. Probably about 10 years ago. It was rated at like 300x1, but actually put out about 50 watts plus some major distortion.

And even worse than Boss: their subsidiary company Soundstorm Laboratories. Let me tell you how crappy my headunit is.

CDs have skipped in this thing since day one. But now? Hell if I take a turn hard enough, I end up in silence for a few seconds as that POS HU tries to remember what it was doing. The radio reception is bad. I'm not even sure why or how that's possible, but I had a weaker signal than the pile of crap cassette deck that was in the first car I put it in. Yes I checked the antenna cable. Twice. Cause I couldn't believe it. It also has the $h1ttiest amplifier I've ever heard. It starts distorting the signal at 70% of its gain. Believe me, it's pretty quiet; it should not distort anything at that low of a volume. SSL's stand-alone amps are pretty lame, too. They sound pretty good, but not good enough for their function, IMO. I had one that liked to overheat all the time, too, and it was sitting out in the open where my back seat used to be. Never again.

Legacy Amps are allright...Nothing compared to higher quality stuff, but still allright...You just got to remember that they dont push what they say. Mine says 1400 watts, But I got it bench tested and it only push 897 watts...But as long as your not going competition they can serve you well...The crossovers etc on the amp work very well.

What a waste of good subs

Regardless of what Legacy amp it is, the power rating would be grossly over-rated, and the distortion level would be high.

Is it the MEX-1HD? If it is that HU is actually not all that bad. The HD HUs are designed and built MUCH better then any other HU they have out. And I HATE Sony.

I have an older sony headunit not explode series and i love it i also love fosgate stuff. The only lightning audio stuff i use is the wiring.

Worst i say go to anythign sold at a store that also sells shoes, clothes and groceries and pretty much all big name parts stores.

All I gotta say is if your turning your amp or head unit so loud that it starts to distort then your prolly gonna be deaf sometime in the future. I almost never turn my alpine deck past 20. Still sounds awesome and my sony subs dont distort at the volume Im listening to. Ive never really turned it high enough for them to sound bad. But Im not trying to win a comp. either. My friend has a legacy 2800 or whatever it is. (2400 max supposably) and it sounds good. No distorting at decent volumes. So in conclusion my point is people who buy sony, legacy, hell even lightning audio arent looking for competition equipment. Just decent bass. I wish you guys would stop bashing sony so much.

How could I forget this brand? I have this in my van... got it at a junkyard (that's what big toolboxes are for lol)

Doesn't get very loud... distorts my Infinity speakers (also from a parts yard) but it doesn't skip! And the faceplate comes off!! Cool!!

I thought it was broken at first... as the cd wasn't sucked in when I put it in the slot... but it turns out, it snaps in like a tape

power acoustiks is the number 1 under rated trash audio, they put out good stuff. Just dont buy a HU or speakers from them thats all. Sony stuff is a rip off. The only good quality sony is the higher price items but still the lower quality pioneer, alpine,jl,jbl, and etc will always be better then the high price sony stuff.
