the picture above shows the center divider with spikes...hen ever we lay the top layer on that divider whould look like a back bone or just really cool, and we are going to do the same thing around the subs... and this pic shows the box in my car before we trimmed it and put int he divider.

so far its 4 layers, i can stand on it and it wont flex, and we plan on doing one more layer. im pretty sure im gonna use swiss audio's spl subs, their specs look really good, and im going to use 2 2channel 1600 watt amps from spl. and i might eventually upgrade to memphis audio...pretty soon we are supposed to take all 8 12's out of my friends eclipse and build a fiberglass wall to hold all 8 and he's upgrading from volfenhag to memphis...

thats what it looks like so far, its takeing us forever, my friend and i are busy working and building boxes for other people, lately ive been doing body work till late at night(i got keyed ), im trying to get my car ready for the paint booth..this week we are building a fiberglass/mdf box for my friend with a bagged s-10, but yea i decided on 4 15's cause its unique, but the box is going to continue up over the back hump and on top of the hump is where my amps are going to be, and then in the front its going to extend into a console, im looking for a firebird bird emblem so i can get a fiberglass mold of it on the console. but so far ive got about 200 bux in it. but this box is our first real fiberglass project, we worked with it in slealing boxes but nota complete box, but i love it cause that whole peice weighs about 20-25 lbs...its light for a box of that size..its almost point lest cause 140lbs of subs are going in it....i bought a set of 12" alpine type e's the other day, i dont really like them that much....

i second that.. you dont know wtf you're talkign about. if all you do is look at the specs of a speaker to determine how good it sounds, no wonder you're making comments like this go listen to them before you start talking ****..

4 15s Dude, that's crazy. I wanna see pics when it's done. BTW I agree with that type r thing. they sound terrible, cost a ton of money, and everyone can't wait to get 'em. :hail:INFINITY.

i have the Type E's not the type R's, the type e's are decent they sound really good but im into bass, i can sacrafice SQ for head turning heart stopping bass...but the type e's are quality speakers, i mainly bought them to build a cool custom fiberglass box for them and sell them and make some money.. so far in my garage i have 1 bazooka triangle, an older punch 12, and comming soon 4 15's. later.

dude i have two 10" type R's powerd by a fosgate bd500.1 in a SEALED box and that hits more than i expected i couldent imagine what they would sound like in a ported box. i know one thing it's time to refasten everything that fell off.

Hmmmmmm.
It does not appear to me that 4 15's will fit in that box unless you are gonna do one of those carzy angle sub deals. Just my 2 cents. Good luck, it's gonna hit real hard when finished, you better get out the dynamat!!!
I have 2 10's and 2 12's and that hits plenty hard for me.

most definantly the Crazy angle deals... and 2 subs will be mounted iso so it will fit better in the car. ive put the box on hold for now im saving up and im going to try and buy a Iroc..and one of my friends has 8 12's and he's hitting 151db with only one amp and he's pushing 50 watts to each sub but when he get another amp he'll be be putting about 700 watts to each sub and be in the in the 160's and its still wont be loud enough...

more time should be spent finding qualitity woofers than trying to mass as many 15s in the car as you can fit.. i personally dont care about spl, but i know some people do and thats cool--to each his own. but, with just a few 12s you should be able to break 160......

i wanna comment on the type-r sub comment. they are deffinately not just hype. they are one of the best bang for your buck subs out now. i did my research before i bought mine and was very pleased with the outcome. swizz audio is the same as audiobahn, i believe. problems with online sales or somethin... why 4 15's? especially seeing your going sealed. 2 ported 15s would do a better job. plus you could split the money on subs between two good 15s instead of 4 so-so 15s. but best of luck to you. not trying to be a jerk

WTF are you talking about. Each time you add double the speakers AND double the power to your system, you are adding 3 db. Porting a box does not, ever, produce 3 db.
Sealed boxes produce much better sound quality and with 15's, he's gonna need it or else every bass line that isn't really low is gonna sound muddy.

hey, i was just rasing a question, thats all. no need to get on my case. 2 nice quality subs are gonna do better job than 4 not so good subs. one of my points. another was that it would require less space, which is a premium in our cars. many spl competitors that i have seen use 2 subs in a wall setup, ported. now if they're goin for high numbers (or trying to be loud). there is a lot to be gained from a ported setup, one of my other points. i was not telling him not to do the setup, just another alternative. besides, why would someone go through all the work and change now? just giving my $.02

so your saying that swiss audio is a poor quility sub? have you owend or heard some stuff by them? do you think they arnt good because they dont say alpine? or fosgate? sh*t man the swiss make damn good watches and very nice knives, so im sure they make nice subs. im not really going for any record break db levels...it doesn even have to be clear.. i just wanna build somthing that looks cool and sounds good and loud...i was leaving work tonight and i saw one of my friends from the local body shop and he offerd to do some air bruising on it when im done with it...he;s a cool dood...if any of you happend to have gone to heat wave he did the work on this bagged red/grey s-10...i saw a snap shot of it in mini trucking....

i never said swiss audio was a crappy company. i did say there were better though for the price. and i never meant to start a fight in here, but apparently i have to defend my positions and statements a bit better. swiss audio is not made by the swiss, swiss audio is part of the same company as audiobahn, and they're right out of the US, not switzerland. and please dont tell me you bought them because of watches.... and big names dont mean much to me. adire audio, blueprint, re are some great lesser known companies with equipment that i'd love to have. once again, i wasnt here to start a fight.

good point man, and engineer friend was showing me on paper one day how a bunch of small 10 watt speakers can put out more DB than 1 big speaker. Its a very simple forumla but I will have to did it up and scan it.

What you can do on paper and what you can do in a car are two different things. It all depends on how well you plan it out. Never assume that a setup up with a lot of speakers will perform louder than just one. Its all about the install.

just to hit on the mutiple subs better than one, I disagree, if you want bang for your buck check out www.respl.com we had a USACI sound off here, on the 15th of this month. My friend ran one resonant engineering 12" in a ported box, pushed by a RF700S and he hit 146.8, there was another guy running 2 resonant engineering 15's, and 8 of their amps, he hit 156.7
Previously to my friend having a resonant engineering sub, he had a 12" alpine type R. It worked great in a sealed enclosure, and for the price it couldnt be beat, but in a ported box it was too muddy even listening to rap.
Just my $0.02 hope it helps
