Totally redoing my system .. pics inside
OK guys heres some pics of what I have been up to in the car audio department. I have them large for clarity so sorry for all you dialupers.
Flush mounted my radio ..... Cleaned up the dash a lot.
Started to build amp rack. I need to pad it, do all the wiring and then I can put the fabric and latches on. Only the kicker amp (black amp on pass. side) is hooked up, so I'm running my speakers off the headunit.
And finally I got to build my spare tire sub box. I know for all of you who are about to say its plywood, Its just the front piece that is. I was using 3/4 in. MDF all around and I couldnt fit it in so i had to put 1/2 in. on the front and trim the bottom down. It was all I had laying around and its just a prototype. It sounds excellent by the way and im really happy with the results....

Well, it depends....
It sounds really good as is, and im not really worried about loudness right now. Im trying to make the car as light as i can for the strip, and want the sub to fill in the low ranges of sound/
On the other hand, I have the other speaker still (had a dual 12 box) and could make the box on the other side. But I have jumper cables, flashlight, and a couple basic tools in there so I don't wanna loose the storage.
I'll probably stick with one. Its not going to bother me.

It was pretty strong sheet metal... i think it was aluminum. I really should paint it flat black instead of glossy.
Used a drumel mainly to cut the square hole of the radio. But you have to copy the design of the old bracket because theres the clips and notches on the dashboard that have to be accounted for. If i get a chance son ill pull it out and take a pic of it and measure it also.

Hey dead, that is pretty nice. I like the idea of using a bracket to connect the box to the car and keep it in place. i will have to do a little mod to mine now. I would like to see the specs on that piece of sheet metal. I want to do that to mine and it looks very nice.

cool
I found some 1/8" thick wood laying around, I am going to use that!
How much hacking behind the radio did you have to do? I had to cut a big chunk outa some plastic directly behind it.

well, i cut that out awhile ago when i had my eq under the headunit. I cut that plastic and i think there was some bracket on a bolt i removed to give it enough clearance.
