Haven't got a clue!

Hey, I dont have any clue on what to get. I want 2 12"s and and amp to power them and that is about all I know. If anyone can help me out that would be great! $300 is about my limit for it all. Thanx!

**this is CD MaroMan 91 i'm on my friends computer**

with $300 I'd look at something different than 2 12's and a good amp... I bought my sub RF Punch HE for $130 and my amp a whiel back brand new for $175 **RF Punch 100.2** An Alpine Type-R is only around $130. You could pick up a good amp for it for around $150-$200 but ya know...

$300 isn't going to get you anywhere close to what you want. $300 won't even get you a good 10" and an amp.

$300 might get you a decent amp, OR a decent pair of subs. Unfortunately, in the world of car audio (as in most other places), you get what you pay for.

are you planning to expand at some later point, or is 300 your absolute budget cap? do you want to amplify your speakers, or are you planning to run two 12s and deck-powered speakers? a prudent investment would be a good cd player; you'll have cleaner sound out of your stock stuff, and then later you could add some kicks/components, a sub or two and an amp, and an amp for your components.. that way your system sounds good at all points, but in the end you have a killer setup, and you dont have to make any particularly large purchases at any point.. something to think about

Aah, some sound system building advice! It is always best to start at the start, which is to say, your source unit, because everything else in the system will sound only as good as it does. After that, a good front speaker set, and then worry about subs and fill. Yes, I know it can be tough to be patient, but it will pay off in the end, when you finally have the system you want that sounds good.

I already have a deck and speakers. All I need is 2 12"s and an amp for around $300. Boxes I will make.

Well man, truthfully, you're not going to get "Top of the Line"
equipment with $300. If you want a half-way decent system,
(people may laugh at this) you can go to Wal-Mart, but a
600w 2channel JENSEN amplifier. Don't listen to what people
say, i have used this amp before and it is just as good as
any other amp. Anyways, this will run you about $200.

You can find it in the auto department, right over by the speakers
etc., just a JENSEN 600Watt 2channel power amplifier.
I belive it is $175-$200, depends on your location.

As for subwoofers, you can go with 10's or 12's, they are both
pretty much the same, you may get a better sound with 10's.
I bought 2 12's for $50 each, off brand speakers, but sound
really good. Wal-Mart believe it or not, has quite a large
selection of sound equipment (like i said, depending on your
location). Wal-Mart also has a bandpass box with 2 12's
already in it, this is also by JENSEN. It runs about $120

**Suggestion: for a 600w amp, i would suggest 4guage power
and ground wire, you can go with smaller, but the amp is
so powerful that it can and WILL lose power if you go with
tiny little wires. Also if you're running subs, i would suggest
purchasing a capacitor, this will keep your whole electrical
system from being temporarily drained when the bass really
hits in a song (example: lights dim for a bit).. A capacitor
will greatly help with this.

For $300 you can go to ubid and get a 200$ amp (will be good) and spend $100 on some subs

this should for way under $200 http://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage...tionId=7422650

and some quality audiobahn subs

4 gauge wire = more power to the amp when it needs it.

Capacitor = won't dim out all your lights when bass hits

**Note**
The above is only recommended for SUBS, and it is not needed for regular speakers. You can put smaller wire, and no capacitor, but the amp will cut out if you really crank it. It all depends on how you're setting it up, and how you use it. If you listen to lame music with no bass, or never listen to it very loud, then you can go with 8-10Gauge wire, and no capacitor.. But if you like to really crank music that has lots of heavy bass like me, your amp will cut out and your lights most definitely dim out every time the bass hits. So

ok, heres a setup for under $300 (if you are lucky):
Alpine Type-R DVC 12" $130 @ www.ikesound.com
MTX Blue Thunder Pro 752 $80 off ebay

i still have the type r but recently switched to an Ample Audio A240X (a bit more than $300 itself). but you can have a decent setup for cheap if you dont plan on getting everything at once. look at used amps if you wanna stay in the budget, cause anything any good new will be more

on second thought (talking while looking at my poor car with the hood up and jumper cables hooked up to it, waiting for someone to jump it), forget the capacitor, get a really good battery!!
