Looking for a nice 87-89 IROC

I have had many 3rd gens and am looking to own yet another. I am looking for an 87-89 but if you have a very clean 85-86 that may do. 305 or 350 TPI that has not been abused. Original. Nice. I'd prefer a nice southern state kept example. No rust is a must. T-top or hardtop is fine (it wont be a racecar so t-tops don't bother me like some other guys). Just to give you an idea on price, I am not someone who is going to pay for a $25,000 garage queen. The vehicle in question should be a very nice driver so I can drive whenever I choose.

If you have something that fits the bill please send me an email through TGO and I will happily give you my email.

Thanks for looking.

Neither of those will fit the bill. The convertible is not even an option and the other is not original.

Yes I am still looking and I actually saw your ad earlier when I was browsing CL. It looks like it has potential for sure but I am looking for something not needing much if anything at all. Thanks.

Edit: what does it need??

Car doesn't need all that much I don't think, decals, a seat recovered a a couple sending units.

Let me know if you change your mind.

basically a a good wax and buff, a decal set, oil pressure sending unit, temp. sending unit, fuel sending unit, driver side rseat recovered.

Thats it. Most of the interior is in good condition with exception of the driver seat and cracked dash pad. As a third gen fan I'm sure you know that pretty much all cars have cracked dash pads.

All the little stuff is good on this car, hood struts, hatch struts are all fine, the rear hatch pulldown motors works flawlessly. Power locks and windows all work. T-tops are in good conditions with locks that function fine. All lights and signals work, interior and exterior.

Car runs and drives fine. Tags are current. Should pass inspection fine. Tires are Z-rated with lots of tread left. Trans was rebuilt by previous owner. Has an aftermarket CD/stereo but I still have the factory stereo.

Let me know what you think.

EDIT: Really dont want to sell but I lost my job here in Houston, i have a buddy in AZ that has a few things lined up for me so I need to sell this car to get out there, otherwise I'd be keeping it for a cruiser.

Re: Looking for a nice 87-89 IROC

Sending units as in what? The seat and steering wheel horn button need to be replaced from what I see. Recovering doesnt work. Usually a new seat will have to work as the fabrics just wont match. How are the struts/shocks? Bushings? Brake rotors? Does the transmission whine or does the rear end howl any? How's the limited slip working? Most likely its tired which is normal. Lifters quiet? Tire tread depth? I know the car is cheap but it all adds up....

Edit.. just saw your post. Basically nothing in the cluster is reading besides the tach and speedo. Sounds like it could be a cluster issue with all those out at the same time. Im looking for a car that doesnt need much. I appreciate you giving me a shout. You shouldnt have much of a problem selling it at that price.

Shocks and springs have aftermarket replacements. Rides liek a thirdgen should. not going to be plush like a luvury car but with turns and handles great, no body roll. The trans has been rebuilt fairly recently. It doesnt make any noise, shifts fine, I can tell it has a shift kit in it. I have the horn button, I believe I am missing a piece that goes under the button that clips onto the steering wheel.

Limited slip works fine as far as I can tell, I don't drive it a lot and when I do I don't beat it too much, but as far I know its ok. My brother changed the fluid in the rear end after I got it. Everything looked good inside the diff.

Tires probably have around 70% tread left on them. Z rated as I mentioned.

Brakes seem fine too me,

As mentioned in my last post the struts for the hood and hatch work fine.

Alright, well spread the word around to your buddies or keep the car in mind if you have a change of heart. I need to unload this thing.

I have an 88 IROC-Z, black with grey interior. It's a 350 L98 TPI with 700R4 AT. I do better in personal conversations than messaging (I'm a 50s/60s man). You can call me @ 678-525-5263 or email jmclarke431@yahoo.com at your convenience. Thanks/Joe Clarke.
