Please help need value before I purchase it tomorrow
I would love you guys input prior to purchasing this vehicle tomorrow. I'm not sure of the value as I can not seem to find one that seems correct. You comments and opinions are greatly appreciated. Here are the specs and history.
1992 Camaro convertible RS
I am purchasing it from the second owner who purchased it from his friend in 1997 with 30k miles. Right now the car has 49k original miles on it. The car has always been garaged and keep in Southern California. The odometer had to be repaired at the Chevy dealership about 700miles ago and it appears to be in line with what was reported through car fax
The car fax is clean the car is all original including paint.
The paint has a couple dozen small chips on the hood and front from normal use over the years but it still shinny and smooth. It does not look like it has been in any accidents or had any body work done to it (the owner confirms this to be true).
The front spoiler is scratched and looks to be touched up with a non matching paint (owner says his friend did that prior to him purchasing it).
The interior is impeccable no tears cracks stains ect
The top is in great shape and does not leak. The back plastic window does have some discolor on it (do I have to replace or can that be cleaned).
The motor runs well it seems to have some sort of exhaust leak I'm sure that's not to much to fix.
The front end makes a little bit of rattle noise while going through a bumpy area (maybe the bushing need to be replaced?) but it handles good.
The trunk shocks need to be replace as the truck does not stay up
Both windows roll up and down slow (maybe the motors need to be replaced)
Again thanks for you input I would like to know what I should pay for this

It's the 5.0 305 V8 they are asking 8k I figure I should be able to get it for 7.5k but going to offer 7k just didn't know if that is a good number or not

I would start at 6k. That's reasonable. 7k would be the most I would go after much haggling. Not knocking it but it is a RS which is the lower optioned car. I would rather pay 7k for a much higher optioned Z28 or Trans Am with a lil more miles on it myself.

Odd color combo, they won't have people beating a line to there door. Same situation when you go to sell it. I would probably start lower for that reason but would personally prefer an IROC or Z28 convertible for the upside appreciation.

For the price I would shop around for IROC Z Convertible.

Lots of good advice so far. Car looks clean, like the color. I wouldn't expect rust problems being a CA car, but it wouldn't hurt to check for it anyway. If you do decide to haggle, use the problems with the car you listed to help negotiate the price down some (agree with dmccain, start around 6). I would also agree with those who encourage you to look for an Iroc, but that's just me! Good luck & keep us posted on what happens!
