90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

Year Of Car 1992
I have looked for this info and found others..but Im looking for the front fittings sizes. to the/from the proportioning Valve out to the front brakes... 30 years ago when I did my Line lock. I just cut the ends off the 2 front brake lines. turned then in to simple flairs and installed them in the the line lock..(coming out of )the line lock and going to the front brakes..easy peazzy.. anyway.. I have a brand new SS brake line kit from Classic Tube. and would like to see I could just get the fittings to run the lines right into the line lock ..with out redoing any flairs...they should make them By Now..right..Looking for the brass fittings to go from the Hurst Line Lock to 92 Camaro front brake lines..or the brake line fitting size..Thank you

Jeff

just don't want to use my old brake lines. And don't want to mess with the new line..
the cars going back together!

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

I just went through this exact exercise and here are the sizes. Special nod to Qwk for confirming for me.

* M12-1.0 - Both lengths between master cylinder and prop valve
* M14-1.5 - Outlet of prop valve to rear brake line (rear fitting is an M12-10)
* M12-1.0 - Aft fitting of rear brake line to axle hose (on rear driver side aft of the fuel filter).

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

Yes they do. Earl's sells adapters as well as Dorman and a bunch of others. However, I could not find an adapter for the 14 mm rear line fitting. What are you trying to connect? Stock prop valve to newer master?

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

Im working with the stock brake lines.. coming out of a line lock ..what are the front Brake Line nut size..from prop Valve to front .. the front brake line has 2 diff size of nuts on the lines front wheel brakes lines
1 size hooks to the rubber brake line at the caliper 1 size screws into the Porp Valve under the master cylinder.. looking for the size of Nut at the end of line going into the Porp Valve

this Pic shows my line lock set up. Its behind the prop Valve.. with 1 front brake line going into it and 2 lines coming out of it.. I would like to Keep the New likes stock.. without cutting the bubble flairs off and doing a double flair.. like it did in this pic 30 years ago.. I would like to Buy the adapters to plug the line into the Line lock and not cut the lines to make new fittings.

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

So I need an adapter 1/8 NPT male to M10-1.5 Female that's what I'm looking for

the fitting coming out of the Proportioning Valve to the front brake line is M10-1.5
the Line lock body is 1/8NPT

You might need to use multiple adapters. There are plenty of metric to 3an fittings, and then 3an to NPT.

You're not going to find an adapter that goes to metric bubble flare. You'll have to do inverted flare.

I desperately tried to find one when I was doing brake lines for my car. Even called SJM Manufacturing and spoke to the engineer/owner and he said it's not sold off the shelf but they'll make you a production run with a minimum order quantity.

Do you have a thread pitch gage? Not doubting you at all, god knows I struggled with mine, but all my front fittings were M10x1. Maybe a quick call to SS tube?

I know there was a change to thread pitch in '89 from 1.0 to 1.5. I just never was quite sure which port it was that changed. I guess we know now.

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

Be really careful when buying adapters. There is an Asian M10 fitting that will leak if you try to use it with the ISO bubble flare. All the M10 adapters I found years ago were Asian style but they didn't spell it out really well. Had to cross-check part numbers and documentation to manufacturer. I think maybe you can visually identify it by the the fitting being fully threaded.

And a single flare AN fitting should not be used with steel tube. Must use cunifer (seamless) brake line with single flare AN.

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

found some m10-1.5 tube nuts for 3/16 line
MALE TUBE NUT - M10 x 1.5, Bubble Flare, 3/16" Line | eBay

$run about $17.00 for 2 shipped.. now if I can get the tube nuts for the brake hose end .. ill order them 4 fittings. and make a set of lines..with the copper nickel line to the front end...

we have a place call the House of Hose.. see what they have in the AM.

i WANT WHAT I want!
till then move on to removing the Gas Tank.. (nothing left under car) out back but muffler.. I did make some wheel cribs wed.. I had a stack of left over 2x6 from the deck we did last year..switched to trex for flooring.. I did the 2x6 wheel cribs.. 1 end for wheels..flip them over and you can put Jack stands on them.. = cars 2 + feet in the air..and no tires or wheels on the car.. want to do the trans on its own.

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

5am and i just orderd the brake line and tool to do both ends.. with this tool..ya can do both double flair.. and bubble ISO Metric.. so No more adapter fittings or what have you.. ill use the tube nuts off my old lines..and make some nice tight fitting brake lines.to fit thye UMI K member. and cross over..25" of brake line is on the way also. (side note: will have some classic tube SS lines for sale) pre bent to factory specs! and they are 100% the same as what came off my car... so today ends with a beer at 5:05am and bed!

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

As soon as the very first time that I touched this tool... I was addicted!

Now I have been spoiled, and can never go back.

These Sets new are now very affordable... also the Set is usually only around $200 used.
I purchased this Set about 20 years ago... and back then I think it cost around $1,400.

I have that same kit but with the Mastercool brand name on it. Also bought a 37° flare and added it to the kit.

Re: 90 to 92 brake line fitting size..

Nice. sets.. was thinking it was going to cost $100 just for a good tool to make the lines..when they told me $40..I was like. take my money! all my other brake Hard lines are stock..
just need to 3/16 front lines set up for ISO at 1 end to braided brake line. and Inverted Flare at the other.to Line lock... in 3/16th line...and it will work with SS 3/16th line..(Polished SS 3/16 line)
AND i GET TO USE my old master cylinder hard lines to make bench bleed lines. for the new set up..

Just recently bought both the 3/16" and the 1/4" flare tools, worth every penny!
