No Rear Brakes

Recently I redid all the brakes on my 86 Camaro. The front brakes are power stop calipers and rotors with new pads. The back are all new as well. OEM style caliper new rotors and new pads. Replaced half the brake line feeding the back brakes along with all the hoses in the back. Bled the brakes and the brake pedal felt pretty good. Well I started up the car and put it in drive, reverse, and neutral and the back tires do not stop. The pedal goes all the way to the floor. I can spin the front ones while it is running and they stop just not the back. So I shut the car off and then the brake pedal feels good again. Car off but in neutral the back tires will stop if someone is spinning them along with the fronts. Bled them again and even bled them at the mast cylinder a little air came out so I thought that fixed it. The pedal even felt better than before. Started it up again today and still same thing pedal goes right to the floor and no rear brakes. When I started it I had the brake pedal pressed down and once the car started to run, the brake pedal slowly went all the way to the floor. Any ideas?

Re: No Rear Brakes

Air in the master, ah oh.. I forget the exact amount from memory in the manual for the delco rear calipers, but to do the initial adjust for them you have to pull up on the e-brake like 100 times.. and use it frequently to keep turning the internal caliper screw tight.. Also a big help on my '86 was to install a different spring in the prop valve to give the rear more pressure, My rears wouldn't stop while up in the air either, they now work perfectly, look for a thread cheap prop valve fix.. I used the 19lb one.. and off subject, FYI, '86 had a early batch of bugged proms, somewhere here is a thread on that as well, worth a look if your having any other issues with it.

Re: No Rear Brakes

We bled the master already but we haven't adjusted the new calipers. My e-brake cables are broke so instead could I just keep pulling the lever on the back of the new calipers that would be doing the same thing right? Just until I get new cables for the e-brake. And yeah a buddy of mine and myself were just talking about that. Ill check that out.

Re: No Rear Brakes

Today I kept pulling the lever on the caliper to adjust the piston. The passenger side had at least a 1/2 gap between the pad and rotor but now the pads are tight against the rotor. Started the car and put it in reverse and still same thing no rear brakes. if I mash them down to the floor they slow down but don't stop. If I try to pump up the brakes I notice the rpms change a little not a lot but some.

Re: No Rear Brakes

This is where that front prop valve spring comes into play..

Re: No Rear Brakes

I would re-bleed all of em just to be safe, only takes a few extra minutes.
