That's hell of a deal on your brakes lol

Here pics of my setup, I painted them

Man I wish I had the money to put that wheel/tire set on my car. I think those rims look amazing. Would look killer with my paint job too. Love your car!

Here are my calipers painted today, going on the car next week! Still not sure what decals to use. Does anyone have a good link to caliper decals or stencils? Help!

Re: ss brembo on third gen??

ok guys, got my wheels on! brakes fit great! but I did have to sand a little of my caliper, but just a millimeter or so, but do any of you guys know what to do for a park brake? how about a hydraulic parking brake?? the line lock wont work, I have been told they will burn out, so using a hydraulic brake looks great and should work great,? anyway hears a pic of the car with the wheels on!! reply if you have any info, thanks

Re: ss brembo on third gen??

Speaking of rear brakes...

I was discussing rear braking options with Scott after buying my front C6 set-up, the topic of these came up:

I was given this picture before it is shown on the website. Just wanting to give everyone a sneak peek. Scott had this to say, "These brackets mount 2008-2014 cts-v brakes with or without parking brake to 9 bolts or 10 bolts"

This is freaking awesome! A real solution for anyone wanting to upgrade their rear brakes.

The rest of the details can be found here: http://www.bigbrakeupgrade.com/Rear_Brake_Kits.html

Re: ss brembo on third gen??

Comparing front rotors, it seems these would need the center hole enlarged? These are 2.65", our hubs are 2.79". Napa has these, non-drilled, for $89 each, with a hat height of 1.96".
Meanwhile, I found some other rotors, already drilled, already 2.79" centers, same diameter, same thickness, correct lug pattern, $85 each, with the 'vette hat height of 1.78".
Seems it would be the easier and better route, with revised mounting adapter brackets to move the caliper out .18" relative to our spindles?
Oh, the Napa part number for these is UP880408.

Re: ss brembo on third gen??

I have been working with Scott on my SS Brembo swap as well... I have not ordered the bracket just yet. Mine are going on a 9 bolt. I just need to figure out how to modify the flanges because my 9 bolt has drums. I ordered a custom black and red decal on ebay. The pads and rotors came from Brake Motive. Rather than opening the hat of the rotors, my machine guy is going to turn down the axles and hubs. This way I wont have the fitment issue again.

I've also seen elsewhere that the SS kit uses the 1LE hub. But on bigbrakeupgrade.com it says...
Our Camaro SS / CTS-V kits use the standard height hub and the 5/16 brackets.

Does anyone know if Ed's kit uses the 1le hub or the std hub? I guess it all depends on the bracket used. I'm hoping to find a kit that uses the 1le hub.

Re: ss brembo on third gen??

The 1LE hubs have 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages, as I see it.
They're beefier, so more resistant to heat cracking, which the base hubs have done in big brake conversions used in heavy racing, and the 1LE hubs take better outer bearings.
But the 1LE hubs add unsprung weight, and they move the wheels out roughly 1/3 of an inch per side.
I'm doing C6 Z06 14" x 1.26" new rotors with used Brembo 4-piston calipers, with new 1LE hubs, and my own custom caliper adapter mounting brackets. They're not that difficult to design or make. Cost for all this is under $400. ( front only )
