Brake_Overstock
Has anyone purchased brakes from brake_overstock on ebay? They are selling a refrub LS1 brake set:
Front Brake Calipers Drilled Slotted Rotors Ceramic Pads-Covers Left and Right
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271025251851...84.m1423.l2649
Seems like a great deal but just not sure on the quality. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have not used them, but are you sure its really a good deal?
I see about $120 worth of parts right there.
Never heard of Callahan pads, other than in the movie Tommy Boy, are they supped to be some kind of joke from the movie?

Re: Brake_Overstock
Still I question the quality of the components. Good luck.

Re: Brake_Overstock
Drilled and slotted arent really recommended for street cars, or even race cars usually. Race cars will run slotted just to help keep the pads clean, but theyre nowhere near as dramatic as what the aftermarket brake companies churn out:

For a street car drilled and slotted just means a higher chance of a warped and/or cracked rotor and shorter brake pad life.
I got my LS1 calipers for $60 on ebay. They were used. I used a wire wheel on them and replaced the dust boots and piston seals (exactly what this company did to "Refurbish" them, as there's truly not much to a brake caliper) for less than $10 a side with no tools beyond a socket set and an air compressor (just shoot compressed air into the caliper to push the pistons out, quite fun actually) and a block of wood. Super easy.
I could have gone a lot farther, but I was on a tight schedule. If you have time I wholeheartedly suggest you paint them with caliper paint and put those slick chrome CAMARO logos on them. Looks great. I didnt have the time or patience for it.
Also, be aware, you can get rotors and pads and your new wheel studs for less than $100 on rock auto. Calipers are a little pricy, you can get used ones cheaper.
Also, BIG_MODS is selling some C5 Z06 calipers+spindles+brackets etc for pretty cheap. The calipers need new seals and dust boots but are likely fine, you will need new rotors and pads, but rock auto can probably give you those for less than $100 too. If nothing else I think he's selling the whole shebang minus pads and rotors for $250. What you would still need is turned down rotors (hubs), pads, C5 rotors, and longer wheel studs put into your turned down rotors. But it would be an amazingly cheap way to awesome brakes. They wont work with 16 inch wheels, though, but the information mostly applies to the LS1 brakes too. Same idea, just a slightly different bracket, and hardware. All the same work must be done.
