Backing Plate Difference
Hey guys,
Is there a difference between the LS1 plate and the LT1 plate? I just did the install a day or so ago, on my 86 convertible that has factory disc, and although everything fits, it doesn't seem as if the calipers sit where they should. In other words, there is plenty of rotor surface that's not being contacted by brake pad. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks!

Re: Backing Plate Difference
ls1 plates have a bult in drum style parking brake, the lt1 years used a caliper with a built in parking brake
your 86 would have iron rear calipers, totally different than the lt1 or ls1 brakes or backing plates

Re: Backing Plate Difference
I guess I didn't phrase my question correctly. I have backing plates from Ed Miller. When I installed the plates and LT1 calipers, the pads don't seem to cover the entire surface of the rotor like my other disc brake cars. I'm just wondering if I have LS1 plates by mistake. Or perhaps I may have the wrong rotors?
Thanks :-)
Thanks :-)

Re: Backing Plate Difference
they may not cover the entire surface, which is normaly for make brake applications. Is the pad overhanging the rotor, or flush with the outermost edge of the rotor? if not overhanging, its fine.

Re: Backing Plate Difference
Ok. I'll check on it in the next day or so. I have the backing plates that come off the donor car, so if it comes down to it, I can use them.
Thanks again.
