Dust Covers

Hello all,
I have a '89 Firebird, and I installed the Willwood Front Disc Brake KIt. I went to a move aggressive pad and now it produces more dust, (this is normal) anyways what I was wondering if anybody installed those aftermarker dust covers. I just dont like to clean my wheels all the time, or is there something I can spray on the wheels to prevent the dust from sticking. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dust Covers

I had dust covers on my 91 Z28 rims and they worked great. When you remove the wheel though, like to change the brakes, there is lots of built up brake dust. I'd use them for sure on stock rims, they keep the wheels pretty clean between washing. Mine were flat black and were not that noticable at all. I think I still have them somewhere.

Re: Dust Covers

I got mine a long time ago from a tire store that has long since closed. I think kleen wheels makes some, but I couldn't tell you name of mine. It was too long ago.

Re: Dust Covers

I did see some from Kleen, ok this is a real stupid question? but I'm having a hard telling what kind of wheels, can some explain these:

1. Diamond Spoke Design, 16' Alloy
2.- Trans Am, Formula ( Wheel #10041969), 16' Alloy
3. - Trans Am, Formula (Fiero-Style), 16' Alloy

Thanks

Re: Dust Covers

I'd assume those are all the different types of wheels that came on that year car. I wouldn't think that matters, so long as the rims size and bolt pattern are the ones your looking for. I'd bet your looking at all the same size dust covers, just different wheels styles and sizes to choose from.

Re: Dust Covers

No, those are the type that Kleen sells and they have 3 different kits based on those wheels.. well after drinking a beer, you could be correct, guess what I need is pictures of those wheels...I would buy all three and send the other two back, but **** they are about 37 bucks each..

Re: Dust Covers

wow, thats strange. I see what your talking about. They're asking what type of wheels you have. The first set are for cross laced GTA rims, but thats for 84-87. The second set is for Formula rims, and the third set is confusing. I'm more of a camro buff, so I'm not 100% sure what "firo style" refers to. Formula fieros had rims that looked like similar to firebirds, but I don't think they had center caps. I could be totally wrong, just a thought. What kind of rims do you have?

Re: Dust Covers

looking through the website, I'm thinking it is the diamond spoke design, but I'm pretty confused myself. It is the only option for 16" rims for 82-92 firebirds. The other covers are listed under trans am, formula. I'm reading off of the chart on http://www.accessconnect.com/kleen_wheels_pontiac.htm I really can't see what the difference between any 16" rims that fit you vechile can have, but I digress. If the rim is 16" and the bolt pattern is the same, why so many damned choices? The only choice I'm sure of is my choice to head down to the bar and get a beer myself! Thanks for the idea!
