Hey there...no progress on the cable this week, I hope to move the car onto the carport and take the final measurements this weekend and get the cables moving on Monday or Tuesday.

FYI to others interseted, I'm having true bolt on LS1 conversion cables made so there will be no modifications needed to get them to install correctly, work well and work right. The first cables will be specifically for the earlier, pre-'90 cars like Mark's that have e-brake cable adjustment in the trans tunnel. I'll do another set for the later '90-92 cars when I can, hopefully not too long after these are made.

As an update on these bolt in conversion cables, I just got off the phone with the manufacturer of the cables and will be sending my test pair to them tomorrow and hope to have the new cables back soon.

Mark, want to be a guinea pig for the first set?

I don't know yet but they should keep in line with a replacement set. If my dimentions are right and they work as I hope they will, I'll have 10-15 sets made and this will lower the overall cost. I hope they will come in the $25-30 each range but the ease of install benefit will be worth it I'm sure.

Ed, i would definitely be interested in a set of those cables for the late '80s set-up(adjuster in tranny tunnel)

when do you think they will be available?

This is just a reminder not to forget about me.

I'm still in I PM'd you months ago and you told me you'ld get back to me when there ready. Question: I have a 1990 Camaro and at first I had the ebrake adjuster in the tunnel, but about a year and a half ago I had my rearend changed out with an 87 iroc. Well right now as I write my rearend is at Hooper's(California Rearend Specialist) getting a complete rebuild. With that said when I got under the car to remove the cables from the adjuster to get the rear off I noticed I no longer have the adjuster. What do you think happened? I also remember not having tension when I pull the ebrake lever and told myself(prior to knowing I have no adjuster) that one of these days I'd get under there and tighten the cable. I really never use it, but I'd like to know I have it when I need it.

Yes I did and I will get with you as I said I would, Mark also got with me months ago on this request. These cables have been on my to-do list for about a year but as with other things my schedule got pushed a little and I'm finally getting to them. I'm trying my best fellas and I'll get with you all when the cables are a go.

I was going to ask you about your adjuster assembly, funny you should mention it. I know that '90 is the swapover year on the adjustment in the trans tunnel...so you are saying that you don't have the long adjuster bolt on the park lever cable? You should just have a piece of steel that the cables attach to, right? If that is so, then '90 is right and you don't have the provision for adjustment under there, the cables need to be one length and that's why I will also have to make a second design to fit cars such as yours. Are you able to take any measurements under there without a big inconvenience?

Ed

Hopefully the cables will be done in a week, then allow a week to verify I got them right, then we're a go. I'll place an order for 10-15 pair depending on demand.

Any advantage of the LS1 rear setup over a 12" PBR stock type setup? May want to get the cables if I decide to do something different for the rear.

I got a message from them on Friday (12-8) that they had my quote ready but I was busy with other things..I'll call them on Monday to finalize it. At least they have them ready to go. I'll get them to Mark as soon as I can. When they arrive I'll post up a new thread with pics and ask you guys to verify if you want a set, I think we've got quite a few of you interested.

Well $%*(#(&*&^#%@# !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got off the phone with the vendor and they can't make them. Their parts won't work with what we need and they don't have anything close to what is on the GM cables. Looks like we'll have to go another route. Their website specifically states that they "can make custom cables for any application." and I just proved that wrong.

BUT.....I have already found another vendor and will be calling them in a minute to get the ball rolling again but now it looks like the cables won't be ready until the new year. Again, I'll keep you posted.

Hopefully not too long, we'll see what the new vendor has to say. I'll put you on the list and they should be done close to the new year.

I know this delay in getting the cables finished is probably longer than a lot of you would like but such is the case in custom parts. I assure you all I'll get them in the market just as soon as I can and you'll be very happy with them.

you must stop and ask yourself 2 questions,1-how babd does he really want these cables to give up his wife? or 2-how bad can she be that hes so willing to give her up for a lousy e brake cable?
