I used ED Quay set up. removed the factory porportioning valve and installed an adj porportioning valve I also used the old brake light in the dash for the line lock activation light. This mod took 13 pounds off the car.

I want to do the same thing what do I need to do to get manuel brake system to work on my 84 firebird. I hate the booster and want it gone. So the 80's s-10 manuel brake master cylinder fit in our stock firewall with no mod.?

So only way to get the manuel brake system to work is to custom make mounting plate and lengthen the rod? Do I need to get different master cylinder no matter what?

A kit is the best way to do it.

I got a manual master cylinder from an S10 and bolted it right to the firewall through the brake pedel support. An adaptor bracket would make a cleaner and stronger mount.

The push rod needs to be shortened and relocated on the brake pedel. A power brake system has the push rod moving upward. You need to relocate the pushrod 1" higher on the brake pedel so that it pushes straight into the master cylinder. The relocation also increases the mechanical advantage for manual brakes. Older cars had 2 mounts on the pedal. Newer cars don't have a manual brake option so the second mount has been eliminated.

There's also a problem of brake lines. Third gen master cylinders have the brake lines on the engine side. All other GM master cylinders have the brake lines on the fender side. The ports are also a different size so you need to find adaptor fitting to make them hook up.

Why do you want power brakes? The booster is maybe 5 pounds so there's not a big weight saving. I converted to manual brakes mostly for the extra room under the hood.
