Ram Air Hood

I'm new to the site. As I was reading some of the post about the Ram Air Hood. I see that for the Camaro it seem's it can be done as long as you have a carb(Looking at the photos). I have a 1988 Formula that I am looking to do the same but I would like to keep the Tune Port. Any information would be grateful. Thanks

I dont have TPI but others do that have the ram air hood,,if it was a bird you could get a ram air box from sun coast creations,,I dont know if it will work on a 'maro. There $195. and I've heard of people making them work on hoods other than there ugly overpriced $795. hood..
From your first message I thought you ment that you couldn't use this hood without a carb???? You can keep your TPI but you wont have ram air without putting a air box on it,,Sorry for the confusion.

like previously mentioned, there's no reason you can't physically install the hood on the cars. Ram air can be easily done on a TPI camaro through the stock airbox and using the foglight tubes. There's schematics all over the net.

The only reason to buy a ram air hood for a tpi camaro is the looks. iwould think it would be very difficult to make a functional ram air setup, and it would probably be half as effective as the $15 home depot ram air setup through the fog light tubes.

here's a pic of my old ramair setup....i no longer use it, because i have a supercharger, but basically, it opens up the bottom of the stock airbox to connect to two metal tubes, which connect to scoop sort of things that pick up air behind either the grille or the foglights depending on what car you have.

Two air filters sit in their stock locations and the whole stock twin nostril deal stays right where it would stock.
