I bought the Fairchild door weather stripping for my 1986 Iroc. When I got to put them on the little push pins in the seals are not lining up with the holes on my door. When I tug and force them in the hole the retainers will pull out of the weatherstripping. I was going to order larger plugs with wider heads so they wouldn't pull out so easy, but I was wondering if anyone had the same problems and had any solutions?

I may be doing something wrong. I could stretch them to line up but I didn’t know if it would be a good idea to stretch the new seals

Maybe the wrong year? I did mine awhile back and don't Rember having to stretch to fit, I think it lined up good. It did want to pull back on the front of door where it curves to fit the hinges.

Not sure I ordered them from Hawks for 82-92 Camaro and it said they were supplied by Fairchild. Not sure if diff years had different seals?

The seal from Hawks sucks. The tabs are too small and not in the right places. Plus WAY too thick.

I had recently purchased the Fairchild seals from Rock Auto. I did not have the same issue. However, both ends were so thick the doors were
not even close to closing and I refuse to run them. Not sure what might have changed, as I read reviews from years ago that raved how good they fit.

The pins on original seals don't line up well with the door holes either, they have to be stretched a bit as well. Really weird.

From what I have read about aftermarket weatherstrip, over the past 40 years or so, is that weatherstrip is the prominent example of deficient, junk aftermarket parts,

One pays good money for stuff that does not do the job properly!

I bought the complete weatherstrip kit, for my 1989 IROC Z Vert a while back.. Approx. $ 900.00 I'm probably going to be angry when I finally install it!

That's what I'm thinking I'm going to have to do. I think I will put all the plugs in the holes then stretch the end pieces on the door. I'm afraid I'm going to have to shave to thick pieces to make the door shut properly.
