Replacing driver side door glass. Stumped

I know I probably won't find the answers on here but its worth a try. So my 88 came with a missing (busted door glass on the D side)

I shop vac'd about 6 pounds of broken glass chunks out and went to the junk yard where I found an 89 that someone had partially removed the driver window from but gave up. I went ahead and pulled it and bought it. Now that I am trying to put it in my 88 I noticed some difference and wanted to ask before I assemble everything only to find out that it will not work. I don't know what the function of these parts even is, I just know they are different. Luckily, I have the busted parts that were lying in the bottom of my door.

The junk yard (JY) glass has this piece at the forward position:

But it appears my glass had this one in that spot?

Can I use the JY version in my car or do I have to drill out the rivets and bolt this piece onto the JY glass before install?

And what do these clips do?

Thanks!
