Sand blasting
I just picked up this hood and I’m curious if I can just drop it off to be media blasted? It looks like there may be some filler and I’d like to get the best finish possible. I’d like to avoid having someone else’s shitty work mess up my finished look.

Re: Sand blasting
I had a hood "Dustless Blasted" that had had body filler done and it warped the hood beyond repair. I ended up scrapping it in the end. Just some past experience to share. DA the hood if you can, the results will be far better.

Re: Sand blasting
I've been using an electric angle grinder with a paint stripping disc on my body panels. Stripped the roof on my car today in about 3 hours including digging out all the bondo from prior repairs.

Re: Sand blasting
I had my front fenders sand blasted about 6 months ago. The shopper owner said that the metal was thick enough, so the process would not warp or distort the metal. After blasting they sprayed the fenders with a light coat of primer to prevent flash rust.

Re: Sand blasting
A good plastic media blaster can remove it to bare metal without the heat and damage of other medias... Ha my whole car done with it and it was so gentle you could read the GM crayon marks on the firewall. Sanding creates heat and you have to be careful without doing too much
