opinions on T Top weather stripping?

opinions on T Top weather stripping?

Just looking for some different opinions on which T top weather stripping to use, from some of you guys that have swapped them out. Car is 91 RS. Thanks

I bought my set from Hawks, during a sale. Brand they use on all their builds. Nice quality, no leaks.

I used Fairchild seals on my '91. Good quality kit, just make sure you follow the seal replacement guide 100%, and run a TON of seam sealer under and all around the t-top bar. Like, much more sealer than you'd think would be necessary, making certain that you don't leave any voids.

Also, keep in mind that if you have a late production '91 (like me), the factory seals have drains that are NOT in the replacement kits. Kinda wish I had just kept my original seals since they weren't that bad, and just carefully resealed my t-top bar where most of my leaks were coming from. Also, don't expect it to not leak just because you've replaced the seals -- it took me 4 years and many many hours of adjusting things and adding more seam sealer and strip caulk in certain areas to get mine to not leak a drop in heavy rain. Leaked like a sieve right after I replaced the seals, despite the fact that I followed the guide very closely.

That's how some of these cars were when new. A few came in perfect (or the customer expectations were low...some people treated T-top cars like a convertible, and used them as fair weather cars...others drove them year road, didn't have garages to keep them in, and the tops had to seal under all circumstances). Some had a few rattles to chase. And some the water and air just poured in past the seals. I've watched experienced techs fight for hours across multiple repair trips to finally get these right. One poor gal with a yellow (IIRC) IROC I will never forget...Steve fought like crazy, and finally had them sealing well. Then she (owner) ran over a paper grocery bag in the road, except it was a prank...some kids had placed it there, with a cinder block inside. All kinds of body damage, and flexed things "just enough" to get those damn tops leaking again. When it came out of the body shop pretty as new, but with the tops leaking again, well, she traded out of the car not long after that. And those repairs were tough for the tech and service manager...at what point is it a come back, and at what point is it a continuing (design?) problem. And how far is Chevrolet going to let you go billing them for days and days of labor to keep attempting to fix the same problem? At what point does the BBB or Lemon Law kick in, etc.
