Pictures 1984 Firebird
My car is a Trans AM. The colour code is "27" Dark Royal Blue Metallic.
I think my car is not that dark colour. Looking thru the 1984 color chart, if the chart colour is correct, I think mine is much lighter colour. Car has never been repainted & has less than 28000 miles.
Can u fellows post a picture of your Firebird of your code "27" car?
Picture of my car is attache. Colour, in person, appears lighter

Re: Pictures 1984 Firebird
I learned that the car was repainted, i guess, when it was in British Columbia. I had the bird at the bodyshop of the fellow who painted my 1972 Buick GS back in 2009.
There was weird spot (6x6) on the driver side door that I wanted buffed. He determined it was "paint pop". He buffed it out quite well. As he buffed the pad was turning blue - no base clear. He examined the the paint on the whole car & yes, it has been repainted. Sad. Maybe the orig owner (1984-2017) did not like the colour. Who knows?

The car was built in Fremont Ca. which, at the time, the pollution laws required base/clear. If car was built in Ohio, it was single stage.

That's interesting info about the clearcoat though. The conventional wisdom around here has been that clearcoat started in the 1986 model year for both Van Nuys and Norwood (although there are reports of some very late 1985 model year builds with clearcoat).

The documentation for the T/A, indicates base/clear. Fremont was for the a-body cars. I had a 1972 Buick GS #s car that was built there for export to Canada - no air pump & other pollution hardware. Owned car form 2000 to 2021. Sold it & but the Trans AM
