Tail Lights 1982

Tail lights 1982 z/28. the black painted section that runs the full width of the lights is about 1/2 inch wide..
i pulled the lights apart to rebuild, pollish and repaint the reflecters,, i tried to paint the black section but the light shines through the black section and it looks crap.

What paint is not opaque,, POR 15 in black maybe. what did the factory use. No i dont want poxy black tail lights 90,s style. i want the factory look but better. No i dont want to use that poxy VHT smoke look.

Re: Tail Lights 1982

Try SEM Trim Black. It comes in a spray can and should cover enough to block out the light

you wont believe it..thats what i used SEM trim black,, i looked the day i done it and used a flashlight behind the lens and it was opaque.. the next day and was going to spray Por15 matt but checked my effort again from the day before and its now totally dry and its not opaque and looks pretty good.

I ran out of the SEM and went out and got another one.

I am in australia and bought a stack of parts from a guy in ilinois The light needed big work but are looking brand new

i also have amber lens dye to do tomorrow

Everything is brand new eng, gearbox, diff, suspension.

Brand new GM block, scat 4340, solid cam etc

C5 vette upgrade... the c5 brakes were all made in australia. It says it on the calipers. We had them on our commodores and turbo fords also. GM America put these on C5,s.

Re: Tail Lights 1982

I wish i was in America where all the parts are.. we dont see these cars here anymore and there is 1 or 2 on club nights once a month. There used to be a few in Pro Stock 20 years ago and were the Aussie champions.

You have an Amazing Aray of cars.
