Where to buy a Trans Am hood?

Decided to go back to a factory look and need the 85-92 Trans Am Hood w/vents to do it. Called and left a voicemail w/Hawks and haven't heard back. Scoured the classifieds here and ebay. Who else would you recommend?

Thanks,
Jon

Found two on ebay. One in Vegas and one in upstate New York. Vegas is open. Bring your truck, pick-up the hood, and have a fun night or two at a hotel/casino on the strip.

Thirdgen Ranch lists one. Chicago area, I think? He has a questionable reputation here on TGO. I've purchased from him. It took a couple emails asking about my order's status, but I did eventually receive it.

Here's a place in CA, near Palm Springs, Frank's Pontiac Parts. Saved the website awhile ago in case I was ever looking for something. Can't say if it's legit or not. Probably is, but I've never tried to contact him. This listing is about 1/5 of the way down the page, beneath the door and fenders. A visit to Palm Springs could also be made into a nice getaway.

Otherwise, local junkyards, or there's always Hawks.

Re: Where to buy a Trans Am hood?

Thanks!

I'll check out the eBay. I looked before, but guess I didn't use enough terms. Hoping to find somebody to ship.

I saw Frank's but noted that the one he had mentioned somebody had "cut it" and "made it functional"... which for those of us who know better means they decided to let water into their engine compartment. Not a lot of room to make any original TA hood functional...

Had heard the bad about Thirdgen Ranch. Never used them myself.

Last I used Hawks - it was fine. But this was like 10 years ago at least.

I'm surprised that I couldn't find somebody reproducing it. I actually bought a reproduction TA hood (or my body shop did anyway) back in 2000. Hard to believe it's been 20 years...

Re: Where to buy a Trans Am hood?

Thanks all. For now, just going to run the ASCD Ram Air 1 hood that I've had for a while. Hoods are a pain to ship, turns out. Hawks doesn't have any in their salvage lot. When one turns up local, I'll try and snag it for the next time body and paint work is due.

That's incredible. That's one of those stashes where, if he hasn't used them after all these years, then he's not likely to ever use them, so he should just get rid of them. I'll drive through Iowa on my next trip to Indy, you know, to give him a hand.

He used to part out totalled third gens on Ebay but quit like 15 years ago. He drives a semi now but still has TONS of inventory. I just found out about him a month or so ago, and I've chatted with him on the phone. Super nice dude!

Re: Where to buy a Trans Am hood?

There's a guy north of Fort Worth who parts them, you may have better luck with the North Texas third gen guys. The problem I found is, these parts are so old, its tough to find them in good shape. I wanted a Formula hood for a long time and kind of gave up, any that I find the person either doesn't want to ship or it's to far of a drive. There used to be a guy in Cypress that operated off of craigslist, he would part these cars left and right. Same with a guy down in Yoakum, Bill Dees or something like that.
