anybody have experience with the door weatherstrips just put new ones on and there thick up front top pillar make the door hard to close and pops when opening do they need time to set crush? or did i get a crappy set? which idk how it can be crappy they are new from gm 240 plus 180 for both doors have the gm air tight aluminum package and gm labels correct oem part numbers on package also have made in Canada sticker on the rubber itself
I've just ordered the cheapest I could find no issues. I got a new set off the classified on TGO once. They are easy to put on just careful with door panels especially the top. The window rubber is more work as u have more to scrap off/clean/prep. Makes a big difference in the winter

update fairchild sucks not only did the belt moldings arrive damaged but the door seals that everyone on here rave about suck
the hole for the rear end doesnt line up to the door hole
the clips dont hold in the door holes
they are much softer but the ends arent, the front and rear upper ends that are screwed on are made of a harder plastic rubber, the door still pops and hard to close but not as bad as the newer gm ones did
the newer gm ones when first installed would give me pressure when the door was about 8 inchs away from fully closed they are now much better with pressure occurring at about 1-3 inches the fairchild right out the box give pressure at only 3-4 but need more slamming force to fully close most likely b/c the ends dont compress as good as the rest of the seal
will be returning the fairchild set and trying another brand will leave the newer gm ones on my other 3rd gen that isnt being driven to compress over the winter next spring then i will reinstall next summer the weather here is about to get cold, today was the last 90 day it will be 60 for highs from tomorrow on
imo if you can get a old nos set that were actually made from foam then the current ones that are being sold by gm for 240 plus 180 for both sides is your best option, these are not NOS or the original seals that these cars came with dont know why they are being advertised as NOS but they fit very good the clips are large and stay in the door holes and all the screws line up and the seal looks original
if the fairchild was this bad i dont think the other brands softseal, metro, oer ect will be any better from reading on here but will give them a go since you can get free returns
I bought a whole kit from eBay. Just working on this today and having all sorts of problems. Mainly the door needs to be slammed shut. Then the new door harndle doesnt work. I have to yank the inner door handle to get to open. I am not happy at all about these after market garbage door handles and weather striping. The outer sweeps for the windows, the holes dont line up in 3 spots on both doors. I had to slot them with a drill to get the stupid screws in.
I am nervous about the t-tops seals. Not sure how they will work out. at this point i may wait until spring. To frustrating.

how was your experience with your original or aftermarket weatherstrip and what brand do you recommend

Pretty sure those original holes were made with self tapper screws. So that's the reason they don't line up with your current wx.
