Trouble installing the front bumper..HELP!!!

I am reassembling my 86 IROC after paint and having a hell of a time getting the front bumper back on. The bumper cover is from an 89 RS donor car I bought but that shouldn't matter....Should it?

It's all in place but I can't get it to move the last couple inches into place. It's like it's hung up on something or it hitting the honeycomb stuff behind it. Any idea what I'm missing? Couple pics below to show how close it is..

Re: Trouble installing the front bumper..

OK, I'm out of ideas. I removed all of the honeycomb stuff just to see if that was my hang up. It helped a little but I can't get the passenger side to go all the way on??

The ends will go all the way to the fender but the metal bracket that bolts to the body right above the inside headlight WILL NOT go any farther on. Pictured above by the red bungee.

Is there any difference between the 89 RS front bumper and the 86 IROC bumpers? I can't imagine they would have made them different. This is bumming me out.

Any help is greatly appreciated. HELP!

Those brackets are adjustable.Did you loosen the 4 bolts to the side (top bracket/s)?The center piece has two on the latch side.
I wouldnt install it w/ out the honeycomb.

They are okay. The fenders can't go back any further or they'll hit the A post.

I put the honeycomb back in since that was not my hang up. I was able to force it into place but I'm not happy with it. There is a little bit of the bumper protruding from under the hood on the passenger side. REALLY weird. With the honeycomb stuff out of there I could feel around and there was nothing touching or holding it back.

Here's a couple of pics. One of the driver's side that looks great then the other. Very minor and will probably only bug me, but still it's not right and bugs me.

Re: Trouble installing the front bumper..HELP!!!

Make sure the honeycomb isn't upside down! I did that when reinstalling my front end. The protruding lip on the honeycomb should be on the topside.

Edit: Sorry I noticed you still had the issue without the honeycomb. Interesting problem.

Well, now people will know with my issue!
