Different type hood strut clips

Ok lost my clips and the new struts came with four new clips BUT they are all the same clips and my 85 TA used different clips on the lower pegs. Those pegs are smaller and these new clips will not work.

Tried searches but only shows the style clips I have.

Re: Different type hood strut clips

There are two designs of clips. The original clips are pretty much extinct in favor of the current style that clips onto the strut, and all the replacement struts seem to come with on both ends. To the best of my knowledge, the pins are the same top and bottom. Never had a problem with the current clips.

Top pins are pointed and bottom blunt, tops snapped right on and bottom just go over the pin and come off like nothing.

Re: Different type hood strut clips

I know what you mean, but the lip of the pin is the same top and bottom. The top is just easier to push on. Sometimes it takes a bit more effort to get them clipped on the bottom. Try turning the strut while pushing it over the bottom pin until you hear it-feel it-see it snap under the lip on the pin, then turn it the other direction to catch the other side.

It's possible that the lip on the pins is worn on your current hood hinges. Never run into that myself, but I suppose it's possible in theory anyway.

The original clips are part number 14036396.
