fiberglass hood problems

last year i managed to pic up a ram air 2 hood for my bird for 60 bucks off a junked car at pick a part but ive been living with this dilema . the hood doesnt fit properly especialy on the fenders if you look at it from the side it looks like if you squezed a playing card on each end and it bowed up ya know it doesnt fit the curves of the fenders . and do it seems to sit slightly crooked like a few centimeters of the center line which may be do to my hood pines and were the holes are dilled but the biggest thing is it doesnt sit flush with the fenders and the nose . any input on what could be the problem thanks

Re: fiberglass hood problems

Have you tried closing the hood without the hood struts attached? Are they providing an upward push while the front is latched?

Re: fiberglass hood problems

pics would help

i think it's the nature of the beast. glass hoods generally don't fit as well as a good steel one. JMO.

do you still have the rubber pieces on the inside of the fenders where the hood shuts? a new one or a possible shim under it might help push a low spot up. just gotta fudge em around.

PS, most body guys hate messing with glass hoods. just ask one.

Re: fiberglass hood problems

I have seen hoods where we had to grind out/drill out the holes in the hinges more so we could adjust hood back more to fix probs sorta like yours.

What about the rubber bumper stops up front? Have you adjusted those all the way down, or removed them?

Still using a spring up front? My dad has a RAII hood from the no longer around ramairhoods.com site and his fits great everywhere but the front at the latch and spring. With the spring installed it pushed the whole hood up from front to about 2/3 of the way back along the sides. Removed spring and hood fit down perfect.

Re: fiberglass hood problems

Have you tired to adjust the hood/hinges back? If so, you may have to do like I mentioned earlier and drill out the adjustment slots bigger so you can move hood back more
