Living the Dream...
Dreams are a lot of work! I wonder if I could or would have got this far rebuilding this 1990 RS (Dream car) with out family and friends.
Much more work ahead.
Today it's sitting on the ground on all four tires. I have weld in new metal where I thought looked structural. Small holes got patched with steel patch's held in place with Bondo glass. This Bondo is tuff and sticks well to clean fresh steel. All is moving forward.
I used POR (Paint Over Rust) This stuff is tuff. I also am using Rust-oleum to act as cheap plating. The use of copper and/or aluminum antisieze makes for a good fastener fit. (God forbid you have to take something apart)

Looking good! I've used POR for years without knowing what it stood for.
I found out that you can paint POR the body color without any prep if it is still slightly tacky when you spray. It makes it easy to match body colors if you are worried about that sort of thing. Even rattle can paint will stick to it.

Yes have engine bay painted as well as under the hood and deck lid. Been working on smoothing out the primer on every thing else. A lot of sanding! Hope to have it all painted in one day soon, before Nov.

POR 15 is amazing. how ever it must be used correctly. The use of a strong cleaner called "marine clean" is a good step for to remove oils/grease. Then used "POR-15 Metal Prep". This is just one more step in the chemical bath that makes it work so well. Also used POR-15's "tie-coat primer" On the bottom and engine bay. Any one wishing to use this product should read there directions first.
Here is a pic of the underside with a coat of Tie-coat.
I also used tie-coat on the engine bay which has been painted with the body color. I used "Medallion" truck bed coating on the underside and wheel wells. This car has been mummified. And I still don't want to have it get wet.

Re: Living the Dream...
It's all Blue again. Just pianted today. Looks great and not a lot of dirt to sand out of the clear. A few minor runs but for spraying it in a garage I think it's best we have done. Special thanks to my brother Mike for masterfully laying the paint, and brother Steve for the use of his garage. This turned out to be a lot more work and money than I planed on and I'm not done yet. Pretty big deal to this step done. I think from here forward will be more like play than work.
