Plus it defeats the purpose of cowl induction. You mine aswell get a ram air.

An L88 style hood would have the vents. I think it would look amazing on a third gen Camaro.

I know we are looking for every horse we can get but, if you going to do it, do it for the look. If you think your going to like the new look than that IMO would be the best reason to modify the top of a nice cowl hood.
The difference between an open air element with cowl and a cool air intake is at best a few horses .

Yeah I don't think he meant an l88 style. I'm pretty sure he meant forward facing vents rather the the rear facing l88.

Re: cowl hood with vents
its for more of a "venting" with the under hood temps. even with the cowl hood its still pretty warm under the hood. car is mostly nice day driver so it never sees any kind of wet weather. with vents in front figured it would feed cool air to carb plus let the warm air escape out the back of hood.

true, everyone gets wet some way or another. guess ill have to rethink it or make a flap that can be inserted when weather turns or when washing

Re: cowl hood with vents
not sure if it would be a waste of time to try the mod, but I think if done right it would look cool. anyone else? or waste of time?

Re: cowl hood with vents
As you said, it gets plenty hot under the hood. I think every bit helps. I have a power bulge hood that has the screen in the scoop. I have removed the under hood cold air intake setup so that the hood scoop will allow hot air from the engine out. On hot days and long drives, when I park, I can feel the heat still exiting. Same for the vender vents in my 1980 Trans Am, even though they are there to allow pressure out. I can feel the hot air after I park it after a hot drive coming out from them. Your ideas sound interesting.
