What Color should I choose?

I have it narrowed down to a few colors, just very picky. Doing a single stage Urethane.

I have an I-roc z all the ground effects, louvers, and wing will be black. The rest of the car will be the color choosen.

I personally like white due to being able to fix it, though i like the other colors cause they are not as common on Camaros.

I currently have a flat military green that I like on the car but its not UV protected. Bad part is I can't find it flat in a Urethane.

I say go with the blues hues you might choose...very easy to keep clean IMO.

Re: What Color should I choose?

The colors are off on my monitor/s but I like either the Canyon Dusk Copper Metallic, or the Meteor Gray Metallic.
Copper was a one year option in 1985 btw. It can be tricky as it clashes with a lot of other colors imo.

Sometimes white looks really sharp with the right accents. (Ie. black and/or blue stripes.)

Re: What Color should I choose?

Are you planning to paint it yourself? If so, I vote white. Its the easiest for a beginner to spray, easiest to fix if something goes wrong, and white looks great on 3rd gens.

If you're planning to have a professional spray it I say go with hiway Blue, very close to one of my favorite shades of blue.

Thats my 2 cents

I'd vote white if your spraying yourself, it hides defects, sprays easy, easy to fix, well.... It's just easy. If your paying someone just go with what you want the most, as your not responsible for prep work etc, and you don't have to worry about the metallic not looking satisfactory.

I will be painting it myself. though I have some previous times. Im comfortable spray all of the colors, I do agree on the white though.

Plan is to spray entire car the color then go back with either "plasti DIP" or some other rubber compound along trim. So ground effects louvers, wing.

Re: What Color should I choose?

I am thinking black around the bottom but if i go with white I can also go with http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...a=pla_19080297

A blue for the bottom trim and highlights. Or any other color. But I also like the idea of a rat rod grey so it looks more rough. Not really a show car.

Which is why i liked the military green, cause it could look rough and that was fine. My thing is paint doesn't last so I won't invest alot. 150$ for a paint job is good to me

Re: What Color should I choose?

I like them all but the white. The blues are my favorite of the bunch, followed by the metallic copper and gray.

Re: What Color should I choose?

It's not my car so my opinion won't really matter, but I don't like the idea of black GFX and spoilers on these cars. If you're into blues, here's a horse of a different color. GM laser blue metallic. The car takes on different shades depending on the light. Ranges from a light blue to purple hue and almost blackish blue looking at night. Heavy pearl and metallic in it.

Re: What Color should I choose?

you don't want to paint single stage with any metallic in it. the only way to get metallic to lay down properly is to spray it lightly med wet coats like you would with base. the single stage will have to be sprayed wet so you can have a nice finish. you cannot wet sand and buff metallic single stage because you will be cutting the metallic and it wont look right

you do know that the addition of hardener to your choice of acrylic enamel single stage paint gives it the durability you are referring to. not using it would be a mistake.and you can color sand ,and buff it with excellent results too. good choice on the single stage paint. anything to avoid the clear coat follies is a good move.

Re: What Color should I choose?

^ Here we go again

To the OP, if single stage is what you can afford then ok, but base clear will hold up longer. Don't sand and buff your single stage though, it will displace your metallics.
