Re: Update and request (PICS up)

I hate to admit you guys are right.

Took it to 2 more frame machines today.Neither will touch it.

It's done.

Now to just get insurance taken care of.

Guess it'll make it a play around in the yard car.And gut it if I am able.

Not too many good bodies in this area though.

Gather your receipts and documentation, estimate what it would take to find another car with the work done, add up a fair estimate and go back to the insurance company if your fair estimate is more than 2k for the car.

You can haggle them about it, the pay off price is not set in stone. Specifically bring up the point that your car cannot be repaired correctly for the amount of money they paid you.

They will total the car out, and you will get more money. If at that point you wish to buy it back and strip it of parts thats your decision.

I would NEVER accept anything less than 7k for my TransAm, regardless of what KBB or local sales say, none of those take into account all of the mechanical upgrades. In fact, I have an agreed value policy for the car, $9,000. If the car is damaged I am paying a $9,000 premium on it. Just in case. Becuase a standard estimate can't account for all of the upgrades, modification, and work thats gone into it.

As our thirdgens get older, it makes more sense to carry Agreed Value policies on them.

Re: Update and request (PICS up)

Was a total loss.It hadn't just been jacked up by the fender tab. After pulling off the ground Efx and fender, you could see where it was being jacked up by the Y pipe and as the body layed over, slid off and slammed on the front area of the pinch weld.Ripped welds loose and separated the door mount area from the body in spots.Busted seam sealer all the way up to the strut and creased the top brace about where the strut is.It even partially separated that top brace from the firewall and main body and pushed it up.

Thought I'd update ya.

That is an absolute shame. What area are you in? Craigslist is where it is at to find a replacement.

I would, at this point, absolutely ,positively ,with out fail, prosecute the shop that did this to you. why should (or would) you let some jackleg cost you your car??

Re: Update and request (PICS up)

I can't imagine that 1 lift did all that damage at 1 time, that car must have had underlying damages or rust before it went to this shop.
You know that is going to be the shops defense on their part.
Good luck anyway.

Re: Update and request (PICS up)

It's already settled.Shop never denied damaging the car.But right when it first happened, they tryed to say it was rusted out.Theres no rust, though.

Just had a battle with the shops insurance, with my insurance playing referee when needed. As like me for the longest time, they thought it was an easy fix.

It wasn't just lifting it,it was the 3400-3600 impact from it falling a few inches. After the insurance seen that, they stopped fighting me.They agreed the impact caused it.

Now the search for a replacement. But rust free and this area will never be in the same paragraph let alone sentence.

Anyone know if that mecham sold?Or what shipping would be for a desert area car to the eastern mountains would be?
