How to open hood from underneath car??
My hood release cable finally snapped. It's been going bad for a while, just been too picky with the cables I've been finding at the junkyards. I didn't realize til now they still sell them brand new OEM.
Anyway, so I tried to open the hood from the bottom of the car, like everything I found by searching this forum. I can reach the release lever (the one you pull up to open the hood once you've pulled the cable and unlocked the striker). But I can't reach where the release cable attaches to. So I can't unlock the striker from the latch.
There's a rubber bushing or something, 2 wire looms (looks like the wiring for an airbag sensor, there's a bright yellow connector), and then some metal that's in front of the radiator support. It doesn't look like any POs welded any metal to block the latch. (I read on here about people doing that to prevent people from opening their hoods. That's a good idea and I'll probably do that once I get the hood open)
People also talked about being able to unbolt the striker from underneath the car. I see the bolts for the striker, peeking under the hood from the front of the car. But from underneath, I can't find any access to those bolts.
I have a 92 btw, maybe they updated the design and you can't open the hood from underneath?

If you can access the airbag sensor, then you can reach the latch
Reach up and find the part the cable hooked to (lowest part of the assembly) and push it to the drivers side. It takes some force. If your latch is positioned properly the hood will pop on its own. If it is not, then push up on the secondary latch to pop the hood
Use a pic of the latch for reference
