Don't wanna waste 20 bucks if there's life left in the part...

I'm guessing it's trash?

if it has a groove like that i wouldnt reuse it. a new gear with proper lubrication is well worth the investment IMO

It MAY still work but its going to probably have a dead spot in it. I would replace it being that you have it all apart. If you want a good condition used one PM me..

If you have the budget, upgrade to the brass gear kit, or at least the aluminum gear kit. They are a great upgrade and last a lot longer then the plastic one. Aluminum is 40.00-50.00 and the brass is 50.00-60.00 each. Fix it once.

I agree with getting the brass one and be done with it.

You can fix it!
I just refurbished the Trunk Pull Down Gear in my car, the gear looked a lot like yours. Just get some Crazy Glue and baking soda to fill the damaged area and then file de groves, it'll be really strong. $3 fix.

Re: Is this headlight gear too far gone?

Even easier fix, just clock it 180* and be done with it for free. They only spin less than 180*. You've only worn out one side. Flip it around and keep using it until you can upgrade to the metal gear.

That's kinda what I had anticipated, but ice already got the new parts ordered.. Oh well, I'll keep the old one just in case, I guess...
