t-top/j channel repair
so what is the best method and recommendations for trying to fix this area?
right now the t-tops don't leak unless I probably try and blast high pressure water...
so question is.. is the molding/stripping safe to take off? can it easily be cleaned up and put back on? is this difficult?
I want to see what I'm looking at as far as rust etc..

Plan on replacing all weatherstripping in that area if you decide to get a better look at what's underneath. Mine came off in about 300 broken/brittle pieces, and had to get the rest off with weatherstripping adhesive remover. Took the better part of a day. Needless to say, it didn't come off clean.
I found some nice rust spots under mine, and about half of my j-channel as well as my t-top bar had rotted away. So plan on possibly having to get new metal welded in the channel before you can do weatherstripping as well if you're currently showing any rust on your t-top bar. Also might want to get a replacement t-top bar lined up too.

Re: t-top/j channel repair
yeah, I wound up getting replacement for all weather stripping including door/window etc.. the only thing I didn't get was the drip edge seals.. did you also replace that and think it's required? I didn't actually take this stuff off and it wasn't part of the kit so I just recently noticed this piece and not sure where exactly it goes etc..
I also replaced the ttop bar.. mine was rusted beyond repair.. it was really bad.. eventually I hope to put up restoration pictures.. my j-channel was actually pretty good.. but too much longer and it could have been bad... it was all cleaned up and primed etc..
did you use the 3m black weather stripping sealant? if so, how much is required? any other materials used/recommended? also if the area where you put the sealant is painted and cleared will this stuff stick or do I need to sand it off and apply something else?
