Those are PMD Recaro edition Seats. (obviously not original color) The sell for $500 torn up and beat up. (you can find them online easily) Mine are worth about a grand because they are restuffed, recovered, and these seats are becoming rarer rarer. Oh...and Naturally they fit in a Camaro.

Car: 87 Red/Blk Bird loaded 3.4L & 700R4
Transmission: Th700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.73
Hydroplaned

I passed a car when the road was damp. I was only doing 45. I went to merge back in front of teh guy and there was a dead possum in the road. My front tire hit it and i ended up jerking the wheel because of it. The car did 4 complete 360's uphill. I ended up on the opposite side of the road in a ditch with my nose smashed into a tree. My cousin was in the car with me. We were both fine.

My parents were behind me and saw the whole thing.

The car was pulled out by my dually. My dad drove the car home. There was nothing wrong outside of the hood and front bumper. I even kept the headlights and turn signals. The radiator was fine.

Thanks

The actual Knight Rider Style Scanner light is available for $450 from www.markscustomkits.com

-OR-

You could buy mine that's on sale on E-Bay right now:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1820481287

The front of my car was custom molded by a bodyshop. I decided I wanted to keep the ground effects on the car so that was the best way to go. It cost me a small fortune but it was definatly original.

Ranger was totaled my car was fixed for 200 bucks. Fords suck.

These are the seats you are referring to as the Recaro seats from an '82 Trans Am? .

No wonder you removed the pictures. Someone royally took your *** for a ride to the bank.

Someone posted above about showing receipts to the insurance company. Does this really work? My car was hit a few months ago. Luckly the damage was below the book value but close. Now that I have over 7000.00 invested in my car that I bought for 2300.00!!! I'm worried that if anything ever happend I will not get my money back..

Mine held up on Saturday when I rear ended someone. Some jerk in a minivan cut her off, so she slammed on the brakes and I did too, but I slid right into her since it was pouring all day. She clipped the guys rear bumper, but he didn't stop!

Anyway, no cracks or dents, just flaking paint off the nose so I gotta get it repainted now.

I would say the hold up good i accidents in relation to the passenger compartment....BUT when it comes to hitting a curb or something big enough in the road....well the frames are VERY soft on these cars....my 87 was totaled from a curb...all my fault tho, and just on friday i was pushed off the road by a moving van(****n ppl need to learn to drive big trucks before the rent them!! ) and into another curb at around 45....i was able to side swipe it and it royals messed up my rim and tire....but the alignment is way out and when the wheel is cut all the way the back of the tire rubs the wheel welll slightly....my friends dad was able to get me free Control Arms, Stuts, Spindel, rotors and calipers incase i need them...*** i love her father. I am gonna have to take it to a place and have them put it up and take mesurments on it and tell me what i need done.....if it comes out to be too much...well ne one need 88 IROC convetible parts?

They will keep the occupants in them okay. I hit a 2001 nissan Xterra in the rear at 45 miles an hour with my 91 firebird and me and my passanger were uninjured. The car had $3300 dollars worth of damage though. It completely destroyed the headlight assembly and dent in the front destroying the fog/parking lights. The hood was also buckled but it was still running and save the fact that the hood was bent up I could have drove off. their were no leaks, the wheels were still turning and the wind shield was with out a crack.

Well I took my 83 to my buddy's shop on Thursday to do those things that are better accomplished with a lift. I repaired the A.I.R. pipe to the cataytic converter, put a new kickdown cable in, and changed the pan gasket. I was pulling out the speedometer gear housing to change the O-ring when it fell to the floor and blew apart. Meanwhile the wife calls and tells me the alternator in her buick took a dump. So we finish up, push the car out and I get a lift home. Put the alternator on --good to go. My wife insisted I ride in with her then hitch a ride with my friend from work down to the shop. I was going to take the Goat out to stretch its legs. Anyway, I get down to the shop, did the work in the lot and headed home. I'm pulling away from a light and look and my rearview and see this black saturn coming on hard and said "Oh boy, here we go" WHAM!!! right into the back of the 83!!! I pull over expecting to see smashed taillights, bent quarters etc. ALL THAT HAPPENED WAS MY BUMPER GOT BENT!!!! The saturn didn't fare as well the entire front was FUBARed . The drunk skunk gets out and says "I guess this was my bad??? I'm like "You think?" I tell her I'm going to call the cops to file a report and she says she wants to call her husband. I'm like "go ahead and call I'll call the cops". After I take down her license plate # I go to place the call (the clerk at the gas station already called) and the crazy b***h takes off!!! Delaware State Police picked her up later and arrested her for DUI and a bunch of other stuff. Anyway, just thought I'd share

A friend of mine had gotten into an accident with a saab. He was coming down the street and hit the "magical button" (N2) His car immediately lost control and went sideways down the street. The front nose clipped and hit the side of this saab and pushed the whole car onto the curb. The camaro only has cosmetic damage to the nose but no dents or smashes but the saab was a completely totaled severly frame damaged.

Goes to show you how powerful 3rd gens are.

If I wasn't in a camaro i might be dead right now. I was going down through a mountain racing a 300zx (I should of known it would of won me around the curves) anyways I had a 85 z28 and by the way I was winning. I went to fast around a curve going about 60 or 70 mph and I went head on with an oncoming catering truck going about 40 mph. lets just say that i lost the race. My car was totalled the frame was bent, the tranny was on the floor and the engine block cracked. I bent the steering wheel with my face ( I was wearing my seat belt) no broken bones just an open wound on my eyebrow and my tooth went through the skin and I needed stitches on both sides. I hit that catering truck so hard that the seat belt left a red mark across my chest that lasted for 2 weeks, my ribs and teeth were loose to the touch but in 2 weeks i was all better accept for a couple little scars. A word to the wise " the camaro will do anything you want it to, just be ready for what it's going to cost you". After this incident I respected the fact that i wasn't superman and logic plays a big part in what you can and can't do.

Yes I do have to say are tanks, and can handle the hits, its just that there are weak spots.

With my 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z, TTops, 350. I came home from testing at school. I was on AOL, talking with my friend, he asked if he could borrow $20 dollars. I was like sure, as the good friend I am. But he said he didn't have a ride. So I was like its a good day, I feel like drivin anyway, I'll stop by. He was like yeah pop off the TTops, I was like yeah. But I didn't though. Drove down there, chilled, gave him the 20. Then left, it was almost work time, so I had to hurry up home. I was rippin it on the highways, wasnt much traffic at this point. But then it started to get real cluttered on Rt. 17. I was in left lane, moved to the middle. For some reason I decided to get into the right lane really late for my exit. Now when I drive on Rt. 17, I'm always say I had all this time to get into the damn right lane. But I dunno just hate going slow in the right lane. But hell its better to have my car, and go slow, then go fast, and not. Well anyway, I was now in the middle lane, and this annoying truck was right next to me. Instead of slowing down, I chose to speed up to pass it and get into right lane. For some reason I felt like the truck was tryin to speed up tho. So I sped up, got into right lane, my exit is right there, and turned right into the exit, who knows how fast I was going. And nice me, thought not to brake in the right lane, so I wouldn't get hit by truck. It was the Waldwick exit (N), and it is one the of the tightest exits you'll ever go on. There was nothing I could do, I braked, I turned, and I knew I was gonna nail the curb. BOOM! I was so mad, I just yelled out "NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO...". I knocked off the horn cover, from hitting it convulsively. Got out thought it didn't look that bad. Nothing leaking, looked good still.

Well to make a long story short... the car is totalled. Took to repair shop, costs $7,020.24. Umm I don't think so. As much as I love that car, and cried for it, still sometimes feel a tear, I can't afford that. Not only that with that money, I could just buy a newer 4th gen Camaro! But I'll miss my IROC greatly. Words of wisdom, get in the right lane early. Much earlier, and you're gauranteed not to repeat what I did. My car took the beating though, not a single scratch on me, not one, except emotionally. The damages were cracked rim, ripped tire, frame damage, front end (pretty much the whole thing), the fender, steering box, strut assembly, spindle, pretty much the whole front end. Even though cosmetically it looks just fine. It sucks, but I gotta suck it up, and look forward in my life. Look forward to my next Camaro! Hehe.

BTW, I was wearing my seatbelt.

Oh and, I'm looking to sell my car, as I speak, I wanna sell it AS A WHOLE. Make me an offer.

Specs:
1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z.
Black, tan interior, gold package.
IROC rims (3).
350 engine.
700R4 Auto tranny.
9 bolt rear end.
Grant steering wheel.
Custom ram air.
K&N Filters
Flowmaster exhaust.

To my IROC... Rest in peace, you will not be forgotten.

I went 80mph into a freeway exit sign a long time ago and the back quarter panel got smashed in. No other damage though got it fixed for $400. If you look in the august car and driver magazine page 112 you'll see how my smash looked.

Well luckly I have driven out of all close calls in my f-bird. KNOCK ON WOOD. I've had it for 6 years, its my daily driver.

But I did see one in a junkyard when I was looking for a spoiler, it was the only thing not broken on the car, It had been sideswiped by an 18 wheeler and pushed into one of those steel power poles. As you can guess, the passanger side was pushed in to the center console. Luckly the driver was the only one in the car. They survived but was badly injured. For some reason the guy that ran the Junk yard knew all of this. Every bit of glass in the car was shattered. The engine was destoryed. All the wheels were cracked, The axel was bent. Front suspension on D-Side had been riped off. But the only way they could get the person out was thru the T-Tops. SO The T-tops can be useful in a wreck.
The dash was broken up, The steering wheel was even bent, probably by the guy holding on. This is the worse f-body I had ever seen, I think is was an formula I don't rember

i would like to add kinda of what aviator started to say, in that i've never had an accident in my 2 weeks of actually driving my formula, but i have avoided one that i'm surprised i got out of without damage to anything(except tire tread of course). I was cruising down an open road out in the suburban/rural area here, coming from the junkyard, i wasn't going really fast, maybe 55-60 going into 5th gear, when my clutch pedal went to rubber, just floppin around with no pressure, so i was shifting hard, my hard shift pulled it out of 4th, and on it's trip down it landed and somehow got slammed into 2nd gear, and my back tires automatically locked up, and grabbed my car, put it absolutely sideways in a 4 wheel drift, and the worst part is my foot went to the gas pedal seeing thats where it woulda naturally went had the clutch worked, so here i am, sliding sideways, peeling out seeing a cloud of tiresmoke in the mirror and an approaching curve in the road with a ditch on the side that was about 6 ft deep. finally i yanked it into neutral, counter steered and braked just right and ended up waiting for a tow truck with my car waiting on the opposite side of the road, 2 ft from the ditch where it drifted somewhat sideways to a stop. All of that happened in maybe 5-10 seconds, and i was amazed that my car didn't tip over, thanks much to the ws6 suspension i'm sure and the overall wide stance and low center of gravity of a thirdgen. So, i realized in those 10 seconds how great these cars could handle, and that i really didn't wanna freakin die, and that i was glad i replced the seatbelt latch with one that actually works. Thirdgens can outmaneuver an accident, and it seems like they hold up in those unavoidable ones. And always freakin remember, buckle your a$$ in that seat. Who cares if it don't look cool, at least your face will have a chance. besides, when you drive a thirdgen, no one is looking at you anyways, they're focused on the car

Thats exactly the reason why I can't wait to be driving my new (actually old) car. Its an 88 Oldsmobile Delta 88 2 Dr. with the 3800 engine. I'm gonna be puttin subs in that baby, hey I got the trunk for it, hell yeah! Now people are gonna hear the "thumps" and be like whose drivin. They won't even care what car I'm in, just as long as cute me is drivin, hehe. My new motto, its not the car that makes the man, its the man that makes the car.

The woman who owned my car before me rolled the car over several times in some light snow, and all that needed to be fixed was; the drivers side window post needed to be pulled up, a new windshield, new headliner, new t-tops, some dents on the drivers side fender, and a *new* used mirror. I was suprised how well the car held up! The car cost me only $400 bucks!

I dunno man, I mean I know the car is hot, no doubt it is. But when I rolled up in my IROC, people saw the IROC, thats it. But now wit the Olds', I'll be pumpin the bass, and they'll be like whose driving that? Not even thinking of the car, just cute me lol. This way I can keep check of people that they like me, and not just my car.

my bro was in a chain reaction with my car a few years ago & the insurance totalled it...it was messed up really bad....(no pics sorry)
it looked like a can all bent up..
when i hit someone the quarter panel dented & of course messed the paint & hood up bad....IMO i dont really think they hold up good but then again it depends on what you hit & how hard you hit it...

Hit a deer at around 115 - 120 after taking my car up to around 155. I had my friend in a 00 ram air behind me and said the deer was pretty much ejected over the car after I hit it lol. It is on the road to recovery! Here is a damage pic!

I hear that!! I wound up parting the car and getting a hard top. The windshield cracked too, on the driver's side. It bent my strut tower brace, front crossmember, pushed in the strut tower in almost 2 inches and may have pushed the driver's side strut tower too. But the Century that went through the red light wound up seizing the motor because the radiator blew. Stupid old lady didn't shut it off after the wreck.

I bought my Camaro new in 1986. Three weeks later I was hit head on late at night by a guy from England driving on the wrong side of the road in a rental car.

I was fine, but my brand new car had about $7000 damage. The cops cited the other guy and his insurance paid for it all.

My car's been great ever since. :-)

I am sorry... but that is like textbook "This would never happen"

Driving on the wrong side of the road... you have to find the humor in that one.

The cops start writing him a DUI ticket, and he is like "Say yanks, what is that there paper?" and they are like "Oh man, sorry sir"

for a first car i owned an '85 firebird with the 2.8 liter V6. after a small accident with an early 80's monte carlo (the monte carlo backed in to the driver side fender of my car), the frame on the car suffered a severe crack 3/4 the way through the front side of the frame. of course the monte carlo couldn't have done that much damage, but still, it is somewhat of a concern with the '88 formula i now am rebuilding.

Yeah, some circumstances are beyond structural integrity.

The cars are weak and fragile. However you will walk away from alot of bad wrecks in these cars. They crumple nicely and absorb the shock of the impact.

Do they hold up well in a wreck? NO

Will you walk away from most wrecks? Most likely.

Is the seat belt recal specifically for Camaros or does it apply to Firebirds and Trans-AMs as well?

All the stuff I see on the subject says Camaro. So I would like to know if I am entitled to somehting.

That and I discovered that my passenger seat belt doesn't work.

How do you flip a thirdgen? The things have such a low center of gravity and generally hold the road so well. I can't understand how this would happen. Not unless your going over 100 or something. IF you were going over 100 I would expect the car to look more beercanish.
