Mecham Aero-wing
Anyone know where I can find a Mecham aero wing spoiler for sale? I've seen them listed on youngsfbody but I'm a bit hesitant to buy from them after reading a lot of bad feedback about them on these forums. I also know that they are still on Mecham's website but it seems a bit outdated and I'm skeptical of the quality of their fiberglass work too.
I just really want to get one on my 83 TA without too much hassle. Any info would be appreciated!

We got one direct from Mecham earlier this year. The writeup on it is at this link
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...aero-tail.html
Bottom line, if you are willing to put in the time, the new ones can be made to fit eventually. Personally I wouldn't recommend it to anyone though given all the quality issues we had with it.

Then the Mecham wing advertised on youngsfbody is probably just them buying it from Mecham and marking it up

Re: Mecham Aero-wing
Dennis(Mecham) might have been voted "most likely to succeed" from Glendale HS in 1967, but that didn't make him a marketing genius.
To the best of my knowledge he copyrighted/ patented nothing.
He didn't even bother to copyright the Macho TA and DMK emblems.
The guy that did all the 4th gen Mecham cars for him (and our personal body guy) pointed out that others were selling replacement aftermarket decals for these cars, Dennis' stated something to the effect of "Oh well, sucks to be me."
So there is a chance that Youngsfbody purchased a wing and reverse engineered it. However looking at the picture, I can tell you that's Dennis Mecham's backyard, taken right off the Mehcam website, they are also selling it for the same price, so chances are he is most likely cutting them a deal and they are probably making only a few $$ over each one sold.
It was noted in another thread that even the originals were crappy to begin with.
One thing I can tell you is it looks awesome, however not sure if it was worth all the extra $$ I have in it.
if you're in a budget build I'd steer clear, if you have disposable income (and a lot of patience) go for it.

I agree that the wing looks awesome, which is why I'd be willing to pay the expensive price but only if I wasn't expecting to get a hunk of junk.
If it truly doesn't have any kinds of copyrights at all, then here's to hoping a more reputable fiberglass company jumps on the opportunity!

Try Elite Spoilers. http://www.elitespoilers.com. I bought another rear wing for my 92 z28 from them. you can even order them pre painted to match your paint.
