quality aftermarket headlights?

looking for some better lighting. most of the kits on ebay look really cheap or are projectors. i dont want the projectors, and would prefer a glass lense since the plastic ones melt or yellow. does anyone have recommendations?

Can I ask why you don't want projectors?

I've got Sylvania Silverstars on my '92. The beams shine a bright white and go much wider and farther than stockers. Any parts house should have em in stock.

IMO the stock style lights look best on most of our cars and the Silverstars are top of the line.

Re: quality aftermarket headlights?

I had the same problem of wanting to keep stock appearing lights but increasing the light output. I went with the Silverstars and saw some improvement. The trick was to upgrade the wiring and use relays. With heavier gauge wiring and relays allowing for a straight shot from the battery to the lights, they are plenty bright now. Give the site a read through because it lays it out pretty wellhttp://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...ys/relays.html

Re: quality aftermarket headlights?

Just my opinion, but I think Cibie E-Code sealed beam conversions are some of the best. They hard to find, though; I don't think they make them anymore. It took me years to find some NOS ones. They made them in H4 (hi/lo) and H1 (hi).

Hella conversions are OK, but the set I had got cloudy on the inside from just sitting in the box on the shelf.

Re: quality aftermarket headlights?

i didnt know sylvania made a silverstar sealed beam. i run their bulbs in all of my other vehicles, and so does my wife. ill have to look for them. i was planning on rewiring the headlights so i had 4 low beams as well. i do have a lot of wiring running off of my battery though, has anyone seen an accessory post with pre-made fused tabs on them? i know mercedes/freightliner/dodge uses them for the sprinter and wanted to add something like that of my own. as far as not liking the projectors, i just dont like them

Re: quality aftermarket headlights?

I used to run SilverStars in my old Legend (9004). They were "white" when you looked at them but I really didn't feel like they put any more light on the road where it's needed. This is probably due to the crappy design of the 9004 bulb than anything.

I switched back to Sylvania ExtraVisions just because I got tired of the SilverStar's short life.
