True, if not the factory-style Formula hood, then the ISMA hood is the next best hood, in a lot of people's opinions here. It's too bad it came-and-went before this community existed.

Hawks aren't making the hoods, they are being built by a fairly large name carbon place so quality should be great!
IIRC, they weigh a touch more than the factory aluminum hood.

True, Hawk's doesn't actually make any of the fiberglass parts either, it's just a vendor, like all the other vendors who all sell the same fiberglass parts.

Call me crazy but if you were going to paint it does this weave issue really matter that much? Does it impact structural integrity?

I won't be painting a carbon fiber hood. Most people don't. Even if the hood is strictly for weight reduction, most, not all, but most people still aren't likely to paint it. If sponsorship is involved, where colors, scheme, logos, decals, etc., are factors, then that could make the situation different. And in that case, such a decision would be the sponsor's, who, most likely, paid for the hood in the first place.
With wraps having become so prominent nowadays, people are probably more likely to wrap, than paint. That, at least, can be changed in the future, or removed permanently, leaving the carbon fiber aesthetic intact.

Beautiful hood, Could I afford it? Yes. Just cant bring myself to spend that much on a hood. $2,000 to my door I could probably rationalize, lol. I'm looking for weight reduction only so I'll probably go with the stock , flat VFN glass hood.

Very cool...but $3600 for the bolt on. Ouch. Someone will enjoy those, but it probably won't be me.
