What to replace during repaint?

I need to compile a list of things to replace while having my car repainted and an idea of where to get it so I can do it while the car is apart. I need a list of any gaskets I should replace and anything else that anyone else thinks of. Any info is greatly appreciated. I dropped my car off at the shop today. I really want to save this car and hopefully not have to do anything twice.

Thanks for the quick reply. mirror gaskets and antenna gromet were things I hadn't thought of. I'm planning on replacing all of the weatherstripping I have the outer window sweeps already. Keep the ideas coming and maybe the exact names of the weatherstripping. I'll start making a list and check it with what's on the car and save what might be worth saving.

Re: What to replace during repaint?

I bought the car back in 09 for 1200 and I think it deserves a repaint hopefully I'm not making a major mistake. I don't really want to cut corners. I'm going with the original color but not painting the engine bay. The clock sits at 86000 and it runs good may have engine bay painted later if it needs a transplant or rebuild.

Thankfully you don't need T Top weatherstripping, you could go with GM,a little pricey but their the best and you can't go wrong, their are alternative brands,Metro,Softseal and a couple others I can't think of off hand.

Windshield will be taken out for paint and possibly replaced. The body shop said that I may want locate a new windshield trim or the windshield guy would use a universal one. I need more info on this matter definitely.

I would like them on the car because it is how the car came. My car also has pinstripes but the body man thinks they were added at the dealer. What do you guys know? There is also the body moulding debate to go over.

It looks like Camaro Central has the windshield gasket. I bought my outer sweeps from them at Carlisle last year. If it takes more than 24 days to paint my car maybe I could hit them up at Spring Carlisle this year and work a deal on some stuff in person if they do the show. That's a lot of ifs though. Good thread on the gasket. I may try and reuse the windshield for a while to save a couple bucks. I definitely will be needing a new gasket mine is starting to fall out and actually looks a little short on both sides toward the bottom of the windshield.

Re: What to replace during repaint?

If your not totally trying to restore it back to its original state than shave the antenna. Makes for a much cleaner look.
