Aerodynamics Under Car?

Just curious if anyone has had any experience fabricating belly pans in sheet metal or composite for increasing aerodynamics? We are installing some upgraded carbon panels underneath at the office on a twin turbo NSX. I thought about it for the GTA.

Thanks for any input in advance.

Re: Aerodynamics Under Car?

No advise, but I have been thinking about this for a while as a future project. If nothing else to hide my ugly floor patches .

Some areas I have been thinking about on this (some may well be read herrings).

-Weight, don't want the panels to weigh too much.
-Durability, my thinking is plastic (like many euro cars use up front under the engine) might be the best bet in case something comes up and hits it.
-Coming up with a way to stabilize it (so it is not buffeting up and down at speed) while not adding a bunch of weight.

Re: Aerodynamics Under Car?

I was thinking of fiberglass or phenolic plastic for the material to fabricate the panels. As far as mounting, I was thinking about grafting in mounting points to the sub frame connectors. This would be a great product for UMI to fabricate and sell(HINT, HINT). As far as the front, I was looking at the design used by the 2009-2012 Acura TSX. I am going
to measure that and see how far off it is.

Re: Aerodynamics Under Car?

I think its a great idea and if done right be quite usefull.
My only downside is not durablity, but maybe having it pos help cooling verse prevrnting cooling at lowe speeds. I see the camaros getting away with it, but noy the TA's so much. Id really look, measure and question why the NSX product is in use n how...to come up woth a good design

Also id fiberglass all day...id it bresks, ezier yo fix...or jusy dont hit stuff....the nsx isnt?!
