Rear license plate scratches bumper
On my iroc when I pull down the plate to unlock the trunk on it scratches the bumper. Anyone else having the same problem? Also has anyone fix the ac vents with velcro so they stay put?

I've never heard of that problem with the plate, but I did the velcro fix myself. I got a bunch of the 1" diameter circles velcro pieces (about 1") and cut them in hald and put one half on each end. Works perfect!

Mine does it too, the bottom of the plate contacts the bumper when the plate is lowered down. I have a Kansas plate which is interesting that JamesC car doesnt do it because I assume he has a Kansas plate as well. My plate holder is in working order. I have to hold the plate down tight onto the bottom of the holder when I open it. The one thing I have thought about is that the screws that hold the plate are too tight and it pushes the bottom of the plate away from the holder.

If I remember correctly I moved the part of the plate holder that was on the car up a little. I don't remember if I drilled new holes or elongated the existing holes on the mounting bracket. If I get a chance tomorrow I will take a look.

I had the same problem too. But I fixed it for free. Remove the license plate. Notice that on the frame plate where the license plate mounts, there is a ledge on the bottom of the plate. tuck the bottom of the license plate into the lip. Look at the picture below.

Yep, Kansas tag.
BTW, how many of you are missing the license 'pull down'?
A couple more pics to add to Chevy86's.

That's the U-shaped retainer that I mention above. If the bottom of the plate isn't secured in the retainer, it'll flop and rattle at best--and probably droop a bit when the plate is pulled down (perhaps causing the issue).

I'm uncertain if the run was 82-92 (might be a question for the history buffs). The plastic is flimsy and if the piece broke as many no doubt did, you should be able to see a fragment on the backside between license and plate.

Re: Rear license plate scratches bumper
I took a look at my licence plate bracket today to refresh my memory of the technique I used to solve the rubbing problem. What I did was take off the plate bracket and use a round file to elongate the existing holes in the bracket, removing the metal on the bottom of the hole,so instead of the holes being round they look like this = 0. I just slid the plate bracket up about a half inch using the new elongated holes and just tightened down the bolts. Done
