What is the best way to blend in touch up paint? I touched up a few rock chips and scratches with factory touch up paint. The color match is flawless and already it looks much better, most wouldn't ever notice, but I will and it will slowly drive me insane. What is the best way to blend in the area? I was thinking wet sanding with the area with very fine grit paper and after getting perfectly smooth simply buffing the area. Would using rubbing compound be a better idea? Suggestions welcomed.

yes use rubbing compound.

Chip should be scraped out with a toothpick of all wax and debris.

Then q-tip with solvent to clean remaining waxes or greases out.

Paint must be applied to interior surface of chip by droplet on end of toothpick, or small brush and absorbed into chip by means of capillary action.

A few coats must be applied until the chip is filled slightly above the surface of the paint.

Wet sand it down with 1000 grit, 1500 then 2000 until smooth and you cant feel any difference when sliding your finger across the surface.

Buff out with compound(no fillers, glazes, or waxes) Meguires 105 then 205 I recommend.

Wait for the paint to cure for a couple of days before you apply wax, glazes, sealants ect to the areas.

Thanks for the replies! I wish my digital camera wasnt broken, I'd love to show the before and after shots, I was suprisingly easy to make it impossible to tell where the chips were located before following the steps listed above, thanks again guys!

I'd do it right if you had the time and materials. Feather it out with a DA sander, prime...ect. Id think that the paint surrounding the chip may pull away eventually...maybe not. never tried the trick mentioned above...sounds like a decent quick fix...very quick and cheep if you plan on just selling it.
