To NOTCH Or Not

Ok, I have been repairing a factory notchback hatch and machined some new spoiler risers. I test fitted it on the car today to decide whether or not I really want to do this. I know there are alot of people that dont like the notchback look. I myself like both, but think the factory notchback adds a bit more rarity to the cars.

Re: To NOTCH Or Not

The notchback itself doesn't look bad at all. I'm not a big fan of how high the spoiler rises off the deck. If it sat a couple inches lower it would look much better.

But that is just my opinion. Make the car look how you want it to look.

Re: To NOTCH Or Not

I agree that the spoiler is a bit too tall. I would also remove the the other pieces of the old 3 piece off the quarter panels. But I have to admit I do love the look of the factory notchbacks. BTW I am digging the amber delete and partial reverse. very nice.

Re: To NOTCH Or Not

What are the notch backs made of? Metal? Fiberglass? What do they weigh compared to the glass hatches?

Re: To NOTCH Or Not

I wasnt a fan of how low the factory spoiler sat and was planning to install a 91-92 camaro high rise till i seen one on another members notchback. I thought it looked out of place, so i made some 3" aluminum spacer and just raised the factory spoiler a bit. It just bolts on so its easy to change back or modify more, unsure still.

the tail lights was one of the first mods I did and it was cheap and easy to do, I really like how they look

I havent removed the corner pieces cause I put the glass hatch back one while I finish work on the notchback, but I will remove them once its on for good.

They are made from fiberglass and appear to be close in weight, will weight them and post results

Re: To NOTCH Or Not

The 1988 Camaro sport coupe one piece low rise spoiler would appear to be the best solution. But the side wrap around sections would have to be removed for it to look not so busy.

Re: To NOTCH Or Not

What about modifying the stock center spoiler to fit on the notch? Looks like the ends would need to be shaved but it could be a good look.

I'm digging the wheels BTW
