Re: hood strut replacment.

Pop the little clip off with a flat screwdriver, and then twist and carefully pull it off the little nub.

Re: hood strut replacment.

If I remember correctly I had a friend hold the hood up taking "all" pressure off the strut. Then remove the clip.Same for the other side and then putting them back on the same way.

Re: hood strut replacment.

How puma1552 said but make sure you have some one holding the hood because it gets really heavy without the struts

Re: hood strut replacment.

Is the clip destroyed after pulling it off?

Re: hood strut replacment.

Thanks. Good video. Can the strut be reused? I'm swapping from a steel hod to a fiberglass hood & don't wanna render the struts useless for somebody else.

Re: hood strut replacment.

The new struts come with new clips installed because the old ones are damaged as you remove them. At least mine were. I had to pry them off and they were bent. I guess you could mash them back on

Re: hood strut replacment.

My Strongarms came with a clip on only 1 end so I was wondering about reusing the old clips on the new strut.

Re: hood strut replacment.

One clip ? somethings wrong . Spin the rod. There's got to be one one there or take them back.

Re: hood strut replacment.

Only 1 clip on the big end, nothing on the rod end. When I opened the first one I figured just something wrong with the one but I opened the other & it was the same way. I bought them off Amazon like 4 or 5 months ago & I'll just deal with it. Not much choice since the hood should be going on tomorrow. I'l report it to the Seller & see what they say, but I doubt they'll do anything.

Re: hood strut replacment.

Thats to bad. When I first purchased mine they looked off until I "realized" the rod could spin bringing both clips to the same side. Top of the line struts but they had the rod turned. ?

Re: hood strut replacment.

I got mine for the 'glass hood from http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details

As noted above, only 1 clip on one end & looking at it now, the pic doesn't show a clip on both ends. I took the clips off an old pair of struts & they look like they survived removal just fine & will work on the new struts.
