What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
This is my new hood built by Midwest Fiberglass/Speedway Autobody in Nixa,MO,had to have a new one built to fit my new engine combo under it,what do you guys think? These guys do excellent work, this is the first Ram Air hood they have built for 3rd gen firebird, and boy does it look good,it is going to be a pin-on,and is extended to the windshield, and is taller than the Ram Air II hood. I believe they are going to start offering them to everyone, but I would have to find out for sure when.

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
Thanks for the compliments everybody, yea I think we can still see over it,he angled it back down in the rear,so it wouldn't be quite as high, also makes it more stream line looking. It should be painted in a few weeks,Can't Wait!!

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
oh man, the ugliest hood to ever end up on a 3rd gen, now even taller!
Dont like it personally, but for some reason it looks a little better because of the added height over the regular RAII.
The fit seems to be pretty good.
You seem to like it and thats all that matters

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
Yea,the new combination is a 434 sbc,it uses a Tall deck Dart iron eagle block and 18* heads, and the induction system sets really tall,so we had to have a new hood built so everything would clear. Gonna try to post a couple more pictures, one is a picture of the engine,it is really blurry,I took it with my cheap cell phone camera,i'll have to try and get a better oner, the other one is a picture of it with the previous 383 combo,it ran 5.80's 120mph in the 1/8 on Drag Radials, ran 1.37 60ft,at 3700 lb. race weight(3480 lb. without driver),and had our old hood on it. We haven't got to make any passes with the new 434 combination yet,but it sure sounds good!! We also took alot of weight off the car when we was switching to the new combo.

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
If it was a RA1 style, or had no front nostril at all (Jongbloed style), I'd be all over it!
I had a list of buyers waiting to buy a Jongbloed-style hood for Firebirds, but every manufacturer I talked eventually dropped the ball, after discussing everything & me giving them idea sketches.
It would be easy for them to transform that one into a Jongbloed-style or RA1 though, if they were interested......

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
Next time, you should ask people things like that (off topic stuff) via PM instead of using somebody else's thread to ask (it has nothing to do with the OPs topic). Had you looked at my sig, there is a link to more info there as well.

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
Nicely done it follows the car lines very nicely. I asume this is a quarter mile only car? With that kind of hp what times are you trying for 8-9 sec 1/4 mile I would think some where in the 175 mph with that set up.

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
We actually got a pretty good deal on it,SpeedWay Auto Body/Mid West Fiberglass, the shop that is doing it for us, sponsors the Door Slammer Shootout Drag Radial class we run,so they are gonna setup a tent at the track to advertise their work, and when we are not racing,or working on the car,we can drive it up to there tent,so people can look at what kind of work they do,they are also painting it for us,should be painted in a few weeks, gonna go back the same dark green metallic, but they are gonna do ghost flames on it,but they are gonna be the "realistic fire" flame style, not the traditional flames. It should look really good, they do awesome work. I'll post pictures as soon as it's done.

Re: What Do You Think Of My New Hood?
That car looks quite a bit similar to a friend of mine's '91 GTA. You've probably seen it on here before, he's from Crystal City, MO I believe. His is the same color green, hardtop, but I think right now he's running the Formula power buldge hood, and his is a 9.xx sec 1/4 mile car.
