Best way to remove paint from rubber aero spoiler?
What's the best way to strip the paint off a Firebird wrap-around aero spoiler? I bought one from the junkyard the other day in pretty good shape. It's not even cracked or split yet. The paint's just starting to flake off. I'd like to strip it down to just the black rubber and leave it that way. I figured it would look better than the cracked and faded one I have now, at least until I can afford to buy a fiberglass one.

Good question! I've been wondering about how to do this too. I've tried my old standby- Zip Strip, but it doesn't do so well on catalyzed paint. And I am afraid about it (or something that actually works well) eating the plastic/rubber after the paint comes off. I hope somebody has an answer. Maybe a body shop would know?

i would say soda blasting. it used baking soda which is abrasive enough to strip paint and bondo but wont pit plastics or scar chrome or glass. it is not abrasive enough to eat away rust but thats not a problem you are facing. eastwood sells a kit for under 400 bucks but that a lot of money for just a spoiler strip. it would be worth it for a whole car strip like im planning
